A further- advance of .50e Was made in lamb prices. There was a steady falling off in supplies, and a keen demand from buyers, Sales of Ontario stock were made at $11.75 to $12 and Quebec at $11.25 to $11.50 per cwt.. Owing to the small offerings of hogs the tone of the market was strotig and prices advanced another 10 to 15e per cwt. The demand from packers was good and an active trade -was done with sales of lots Of choice selected at $12,10 to $12.25; good se- lects at $11.90 to $12; saws at $10.10 to $1025; and stags at $6 to $625 per cwt.., weighed off cars. - Quotations: Butchers' cattle, choice, $8 to $8.25; medium, $7.00 to $7.50; common, $5.50 to $6.50t canners, $3.90 to $5.25; butchers' choice .cows, $625 to $6.50; Medium, $5.50 to $6.00; balls V to $6.75; milkers,choice,each,$100 to 4110; common and medium, $90 to $95; springers,$70 to $85;sheep,ewes, $7.50 to $7.75; bucks and culls, $7 to $725; lambs, $11.25 to $12; hogs, off cars, $119O to $1225; calves, per cwt., $4 to $10. . Union Stock Yards Toronto, Decem•- ber 8. -Fat cattle for the Christmas trade put in an appearance on :he =toilet to -day and met with a ready sale. The total offering in the but- cher cattle was much under the aver- age of Mondays in recent weeks, and ontained a respectable percentage of good to choice killers. This suited the layers, who operated freely, and val- lies jumped to 25c higher for medium grade cattle to 40e for good to choice butchers. There was an early clean - lop of all grades, and the market dos- ed firm at the higher values, Any- thing with fat on shared in the ad- vance, and evert canners and cutters 'net witli a stronger trade, One load tof 1300-lbsteers shipped in to Dunn and Levack by J. M. Ramsay, of New - :burgh, topped the market at $9. Rice and Whaley soh' four Loads at $8.90, and there were other leads of choice steers were cashed in grom $8.25 to $8.80. Choice butcher steers and heifers were in demand from $7.85 to 8.10 and good grade killers from $7.-, 45 to 7.75. Stockers and feeders were affected by the higher values for but- cher cattle, and commission men -spoke of paying 25c above last week's rates. 7rne United States embargo on ex- port cattle continues to affect the trade here, and orders for Ontario points are not heavy. Milkers and springers were steady, with a fair 'demand for the s better grade cows. Iambs scored a 50 cent advance, de.tts selling to $12.40, and it would not come as a big surprise were lambs to sell -at 13s before snarly markets are over. 3Ies were stronger and sheep steady and active. All the hogs on the mar- ket were consigned direct to the packt ers, who handed out quotations for this week as $1040 f.o.b., $10.90 fed and watered, and $11.15 weighed off ears. These quotations they gave out a week ago, but the drovers would not do busi- ness at the prices, and the chief trans- actions during the week were on an 411.25 fed and watered basis. It is more than likely that last week's pri- ces will hold good this week, but much -depends on the Montreal market. Lf valae-s in the East shake any today the Toronto market may be affected.. Joe McCurdy, (for Corbett, Halt & Coughlin) sold 350 Iambs, $11.50 to $12,25; 50 sheep,. $8 to $9; 40 calves, 47.50 to $11.50.
