RATthG THE GIRLS
Terms Young Naval Officers Use In
Fxie!I Femi nine Beauty.
The young r &Bers in the navy, and
the gallant yeung midshipmen especial-
ly. have a method of their owd for re-
cording femieine beauty, and they use
It on many eccasions. This is a sys-
tem of estimating the attractiveness of
a visitor by ' a- sliding scale from 2.5
to 4, which its the system of marking
at the Nava academy,
One partictnarly attractive girl was
waking 8104 the deck of one of Uncle
am's big- werships on a day When it
was open to l visitors when she over-
heard two mIdshipmen say: ,
"I'll give her a 3.5, anyway. She
comes nearer; to a 4 than, anything I've
seen yet" ;, .
Of course ;she did not 'understand
what this conversation was about. If
she bad she Would have felt rightfully
flattered, as a85 is an excellent mark
and one rarel?given.
A. 2.5 meanspassable. That Is the
loweSt 'nark tat will pass at the acad-
emy. If a g11 is attractive and jolly4
but withouty particularly striking
beauty, she is put down aaa 2.5.
Before a g1rI can be spoken of as de-
serving of a & she must be very pretty
Inded. To merit a 8.5 her beauty must
be striking. 4t is seldom any girl, no
matter how beautiful or attractive,
merits a 4. his is the perfect mark, -
the very best hat can be obtained. It
is seldom given by midshipmen, to more -
than one girl Iii his whole career in
the navy. -New. York Herald,

Mrs. urn,. H. MacEwen, Mount
Tryon, Par.,writes'-'For mere then a
year I -suffered with an the terrible pains
of indigestion, and my life was one of the
greatest misery. It did not seem to make
any difference whether I ate or ;not, the
pains were always there, acconxpanied by
a severe bloating and belching of wind.
I did not even get relief at night, and
sometimes hortill got a bit of sleep. -
my misery I tried many remedies said
to cure indigestion, but they did me not
one particle of good, and 1 fully expected
I would always be afflicted in tins way.
At this time my brother came home on a
visit and urged me to try Milburns
Laxa-Liver Pitts, and got me a few vials.
By the time I had taken one vial I began
to improve, and could eat 'with some
relish. I was greatly cbeered, aid con-
tinued taking the pills until all traces of
the trouble had disappeared, end I could
once more eat all kinds of food Without
the slightest inconvenience. I am so fully
convinced of their virtue as a family
medicine, I have no hesitation in recom-
mending them,"
