intends leaving for Europe in a couple

graduate of -Toronto Univerelty, has

Death of Mrs. Stitherlend. Mrs.
Jame Sutherland', whose' maiden name
INVA' Isabella Campbell, tiled at her
reeidence in Seafoirth, On MOndaY.
Mien Sutherland had, attained the good
age of 85 years. Heir illneas was of
long duration and her deters° Was
not unexpected. She had been ascii
vere but patient sufferer, and the
great change watt a welcome one to
her. During her lengthy illness She
was lovingly waited on, by her daugh-
ter, Miss Sutherland, who resided with
;her. Her 'husband pre -deceased her
several) year. Mr. and Mr. Sutter-
lerlandl were among the early settlers
fit Hullett, and after Mr. Sutherlead'e
death Alm Sutherland left their bea-
tiful farm' on the Sunda and McKil-
lop town line, and came to Seafortil
to teside. The deceased was ft ,quieti
unassuming, home loving Christian
lady and wee most beloVed by those
who knew her best. She is sarvived
by one son arid five daughters. The
daughtere' are Mrs, Knight, of elan-
da,min ; &Ire. • McKinney, of Bervie;
Mrs. W. McMichael, of Seaforth, Mrs.
,George Duncan, of Woodetock, and
'Miss Sutherland, at home. , The re-
mains were laid to rest in the Malt -
landbank cemeteey on Thursday.

-pleasing featuree of the occasion
was the presentation on behalf of
the pupils and ex -pupils of the de-

remembrance. To Miss Kirkwood
was presente,& a* beautiful pearl sun-
burst and to 'Mr. Brown a handsome

handsome cut •glass tumblers. Al-
though quite taken by, surprise, Miss
McFaul thanked- her choir for their
appreciation and thoughtfulness, and
epoke of the pleasure it had always
been for her to work with them in
her capacity aa choir leader: Miss
McFaul well deserves the reeognition
she has received from her choir. S

ical cireles, ate a most efficient and
painstaking leader,- and the members
of the -church are fortunate in being
able to keep her wtth them. The choir

daughter- of ler. John Robb, of this
town has secured the position of
teacher in Markham for next yeer at
a salary of $490. Miss Robb has neen
a remarkably clever student and we
have no doebt she will prove as good
teacher. -The Presbyterian :of last
week eontains an excellent portrait
of Rey. R. .W. Dickie, minister of St.
Paul's church, Brandon, and who is
well known to many of our readers.
With this is a picture of the beauti-
ful church building and a report of
the ;semi -jubilee services which were
held on the 2nd ef December. Thie
was the fifth anniversary of the op-
ening ot the new c,hurc,h, and the
twenty-elfth an:ninersary of the found-
ing of •the congregation. -Mr. Joseph
Sproat, of Egmondville, was home to
epend Chrisernas with his family. Mr.
