deserted street into another, but I
hear not the rumble of one chariot

But, as I keep on in my search for
some celestial inhabitant, suddenly,
off in the dfsta, nce, I see an angel
hurrying along'. I call out at the etop
of my voice: `11o, angel! Whither art/
thou going? • What iti the matter?
Where are thy associates and the re-

thee?" With. that the angel stops and
says: "Yes, 'friend., thou canst corn°.
I am going to meet the assembled
hosts of all time at the judgment seat

- Court has convened. The divine tri-
bunal, I suppose, must ,be like any
other court. Here site God the Father
as the judge. The I3ible again and
again declares him. to be such. What
says the book of Hebrews? "Ye are

that judgment seat, are the angels
who sang when Christ was born, the
angels who appeared -unto Abraham

Joshua and David and Mary and
Peter and John. All are here. Then,
to the right of this throne, stands
Christ as the advocate.. And here
puehes in his way the reoording

ful book which contains the recorde
of all our past lives. Then God, the
Judge, after all is ready, summons his
angelic messengers and says; "Bring

winged messengers fly swifter then
the winds to the farthermost parts of

degenerate woman looked at these
words. They gave her hope. She saw

Tito Great North Road.
Every day we get nearer to our
north country. Every year, almost
every =mak, floes the railhead push-
ed a little nearer to Hudson Bay, and
up in Edmonton the Board of Trade
recently discussed the question Of
improving the waterways of the Mac-
kenzie basin. Of this The Edmonton:
News says: --"The question of im-
proving the waterways an the country
to thetnorth of Edmonton came be-
fore the Board of Trade at its last
meeting. The general feeling. seems to
be that it would be inadvisable for
the Government to undertake any
large outlay at present as the build-
ing let railways in that direction will
change the face of everything mater-
ially. When we read of the di cul -
ties which travelers nowadays ex-
perience in going north in Alberta,
the day seems a long way off when
the ordinary means of COMMIIIIIM-
tion with that portion of the Domin-
ion will be available. We are apt to
forget how s recent the development in
transportation facilities has been in
the rest of the country, and in fact
the world over. The memoirs of Lord
Sydenham, who was Governor-Gener-
al of Canada in the early forties, have
recently' been published. It took
thirty-three days for him to travel
from Portsmouth to Quebec, and the
journey from the ancient capital to
-
Toronto was quite as difficult, from
his account, as that from Edmonton
to Peace River Crossing is just at
present. And it takes a much shorter
time to remedy such a state of affairs
as he describes nowadays than it did
then. The world has acquired the
habit of moving more rapidly and
once a move is made in the direction
of opening up the north country it
will soon be brought into touch with
the great avenue's of travel and
trade."
not only sinned- once, but of many ,
transgressions must we plead guilty.
"Whosoever shall keep the whole law
and yet offend in one, he is guilty of '
all." My God and my. Lord, what
shall we do with our sinful records?
We all, like sheep, have gone astray.
All have been breakers of the divine'
statutes:
But there is sill another fact to
which I wish to call your attention.
The. judgraent seat of :Christ is the
court of last appeal. In other words,
it is the supreme court. it is a court
which, when it once, passes judgment
that decision can. never be changed.
It will remain forever and forever.
Its &dates must be ' carried out.
Wheni hope of acquittal from. that
spirit4al court is gone, all hope is
gone, 1
Buttes I again sound forth the sol-
emn Words of my text y "We shall all

Christ," I emphasize still another

majesty and grandeur of that univer-

My text, in the first • place, -has a
-legal ring. By that I mean this ques-
tion of the .judgment seat of Christ is
not a matter ef haphazard chance,
Everything there is done according to
the 'divine order. No man is above
• the law, no man • below the law, rid
man independent of the law. The di-
• vine law reaches out everywhere,
'places its sentinels on guard and sayfl
to judge and defendant alike: "I am
master here. We shall all stand be.
fore the judgment seat of Christ."
Now comes, the practical questiore
'What is the law of God, or the spite

"It is," according to the lexicograph;

established for the protection of all;
restraining the wrongdoer and • pro,
viding penalties for those who violate
it. It says, "Another cannot trample
upon your rights; neither are you Bit
lowed to trample, upon an.otherhi

shalt not" are its itwo commands. .

The Winnipeg Teleeram views the
linking of Toronto with Parry Sound
by the Canedian Northern as an
event which means much to the Cana-
dian West. It sees the early linking
up of this line with the main line
west of the lakes. It says: "The de-
spatches which hint at the ultimate
linking up of the Toronto and. Parry
Sound road with the Canadian Nor-
- thorn system at the head of the lakes
are not to be doubted. The genius
of William Mackenzie is not likely to
be stopped by the formidable aspect
of the gap between Parry Sound and
Fort William. These points inust in
the natural order of things be con-
nected, either by u fleet of steamers
fitted for both summer and winter
traffic or by a stretch of railroad.
The fornaer is known to be one of
William Mackenzie's pot schemes."
