pretty wedding took place on Wodne day,
December 2GtIi, at- • Viewhill Farm., T cker-

when Was Letts A. McGaviu, youa.gest
daughter of Mr. Henry McGavin, was united
in marriage to Mr, L. L. Tasker, a pre sper-
us y(uug farmer ot Hullett. The sere ony
was performed by Rev. A. L. Russell, of
Seaforth, The bridal attire was beautiful
and booming. After congratulations were
over, ali repaired to the dining -zoom, where
a magnificent repast was provided. After
tea, amusements of various kinds were in-
dulged in. The numerous and valuable
presents testify to the high esteem in which
the young couple - are •held, and the many.
good wishes of large circle of friends go
with Mr. and Mrs. Tasker to their new
home,Dos ROAD SorTIL—Miss Cosh Allan,
of Clinton, is visiting her slater, Mrs. Alex.
Boss, at present. -Mr. C. A. Mack, a stud-
ent of the Veterinary College, Toronto,
was a guest, of Miss Laing, of Maple
Lawn farm, for as couple of days last .week.
Student life seems to agree with Mr. Mack.
He will visit his grandmother, Mrs. D.
Stelek, who resides in Zurich, and other
friends in Hay township, before return-
ing to Toronto,—Mr. Burdge, .who has been
on the sick list for some time, is, we are
sorry to say, still keeping poorly.—Mr. Neil
Ross took a prominent part in the school
entertainment held last Friday night. Neil
,-Hakes a good darkey.—Mr. Alex, Roos is
making preparations to raise his
barn next summer, and put an
-addition of eighteen feet to it.—
Elections are beginning to get warm, and no
doubt will be up to fever heat in another
week. •
THE FINANCIAL STATEMENT.—The finan-
cial statement for the township, of Tucker -
with has been isFued, and it seems to be a
remarkably sat'sfactoi y one, and ono with
which no ratepayer can find much fault.
The year is closed with a handsome balance
ner, but was a trae friend, a devoted wife,
and a loving and attentive mother'. She
had never " completely recovered from the
crushing effect of her husband's sudden
death a few years ago.
—Mr. John Kelly, of Shakespeare, has
sheep that are sheep. He took a flock of
them to the great stock show in Chicago, and
took sweepstakes. Last week be bad them
at the Guelph FatStock Show. In Leicester
sheep he took four teeonds, two thirds and a
fourth ; in Hampslires one first:; in Leeiea-
- ter specials, ono second ; in sweepstakes,
Hampshires and 'Suf folks, one first ; in
grades andcrossesaone fifth.. Mr. Kelly has
been elected one of the board of directors of
the Leicester Sheep Breeders' .Associ !tion.
Bowes, a young farmer residing in
the township of Downie, is likely to remem-
ber his experience with a gun i and a jack-
rabbit for a long time. Mr. Bowes went, out
gunning -early on Thursday of last week, and
returned home with his face badly lacerated
from the. kick of his gun. Dr. J, J. Paul
dressed the wound, which required several
stitches.. As the cuts were meetly in the
forehead it is not thought that they will dis-
figure him to any extent. The! jack -rabbit.
is still at large.
—Hon. . James R. Gowan,. of Barrie, a
member of the Dominion Senate, celebrated
his 85th birthday on Saturday last. Al-
though advanced 'in years, he is still hale
and robust.
—On Saturday a skin graftipg operation
was performed at Grace hospital, Toronto,
whioh.wae both interesting and thoroughly
successful. The patient was Mrs. John
Hayman, who was severely burned some
weeks ago while vainly endeavoring to save
her ' child from the flames, which were con
euming her. hpuse. At the time Mrs. Hay -
man's life was despaired of. Mr. Hayman
offered to supply the necessary skin, more
than a £quare foot, but on the Advice -of his
employer, he secured it from a couple of
friends. Drs. Cook and Clarke performed
the operation in the presence of a number of
other physicians. The skin was removed
from the subjects" in small, patches after the
Thiersh method, and it is expected that
Mrd. Hayman will soon recover completely.
