WEDDED.—St. James' church was the
scene of an interesting event on Wednesday
morning, when Mr. Robert Devereaux,
blacksmith and ciarriage maker, of • this
town, and Josephine, daughter of. Mr.
• Michael McGrath, were united in marriage.
The ceremony wa si peeftemed at half -past
six, by,the pastor cif the Aurcb,-Rev. Father
• McCabe, and was witneeeed by a large num-
ber -of the friends of the contracting parties.
• Miss LenalGetzineyer, neice of the bride,
acted as bridesmaid, while the groom,. was
supported by his cousin, Mr. Louis Dever-
eaux. After the 4eremony, the guests ac-
companied the bri al couple to the home of;

on their way home from -Cross Hill, where
they had been attending the funeral of Mr.
Rennie's oldest sister, Mts. flarboun—A
gentleman in the township of Ueborne, wh
is building a large barn,came here last week
and purchased three car loads of lumber,
from Messrs. Keating & Lamb, of the Sea -
forth lumber yard. They were able to giv
him better prices than he could get else-
where, and they got the order.—Mrs. Henr
Cash, of McKillop, who is visiting in Neep
awa, Manitoba, in writing home, complain
of the very cold, wet weather in that coun
try. Last week, while Ontarioans wer
complaining of the heat, there was snowl
and ice half an inch thick in Manitoba.
Rev. Father McCabe'le new residence, ad
joining St. James church, is now nearly
completed. It is one of the handsomest
residence% in town-, and is a credit to the
generosity of the congregation and to the
taste of their esteemed pastor.—One day
last week, as Mr. Ed. Latimer was working
with a pair of clippers in Mr. Mullett's tin
shop, he had the miefortune to have the top
cut clean off one of his fingers, It gave him
a very sore band for a few days, but he is
getting around again nicely,—Mrs. George
Duncan, of Woodstock, has been here for a

the order of the day, and as the crop is a
good one, the Irishmen might to be able to

OUR SHOW.—The show of the Morris
Branch Agricultural Society, held here on
Wednesday, was successful De usual. The
day Was delightful and the town was crowd-
ed with visitors from all parts.- It would
seem as if year -by year this show grows in
importance and interest. This year the
various departments were all well repre-
sented, and the show was, perhaps one of

by her daughter, Mrs. John Maudson, went
down last ,aturday to the Sir tford hospi-
tal to see her daughter, Mrs. A :fred Young,
who is very' ill in the hospital ith typhoid
fever. Mr. Young has had a very trying
time. She lost her husband about seven
weeks ago vith fever, and si ce then her
only child has been in the hos ital until a
few days ago, and now she is saicken down
herself. Her temperature was 105 at last re-
port, so her ease is aoinewhat ritical.—Mr.
Robert Dalrymple, a son of on of our popu-
lar councillors, who has been t reshing with
Mr. Thompson, of Kippen, goe to Hensall,
