An Old Puzzle Rewritten.
"If you please, sir, Pm a poor boy,
but I'm awfully smart and. I want to
work."
The storekeeper looked at his custo-
mer in astonishment. The boy was a
little bit of a fellow, and his chin came
just over the top of the counter.
" Well," said the storekeeper, you
seem to have a pretty good idea of your-
self."
"That's so," said the boy ; "I lost
my last place 'cause I was smart."
" All right, then ; show you where
yoa make. a great mistake when you say
you're smart. Do you see, that jug over
there ?" asked the storekeeper.
"No, sir," said the boy, looking hard
ata. green box marked "Safety pins."
"Not there; way back in the store."
Oh, yes," said the boy.
" Now, that ins- is hill of vinegar; it
holds eight quarts. I've an order for
four quarts, but hai-en't any empty
measures excepting one holding three
and another five quarts. Now, if- you
are as smart you say you are, perhaps
you can measure the foro: quarts from the
eight by using the three and five."
"I can do it," said the boy, " just as
easy as fishing."
"If you do, give you two dollars a
week and your clothes. No guessing
now; you must measnre exactly."
All -right," said the boy ; "have

Catarrh—a New Treatment.
Perhaps the most extraordinary success that
has been achievedin modern medicine has been
attained be, the Dixon " Treatment for Catarrh.
Out of 2,000 patients treated during, the past six
nionths fully ninety per cent, have been cured
of this Aubborn malady. This is none the less
startaing when it is remembered that no five per
cent. of patients presenting, thetruielves to the
regular practitioner 'are- beneqtted, while the
patent medicines and other advertised cures
never record a cure -at all. Starting with the
cleim now generally believed by the most scien-
tific men that the disease is due to- the presence
of living parasites in the- tissue, Mr. Dixon at
once adapted his cure to their extermination-
ehis accomplished, he claims the Catarrh is prac-
tically cured, and the permanency is unquestion-
td, as cures effected by him four years ago are
cures still. No one else has ever attempted to
cure Catarrh in this manner, and no other treat
ment has ever cured Catarrh. The application
of the remedy is simple, and can be done at
home, and the present season of the year is the
most favorable for a -speedy and permanent cure,
the majority of cases being cured at one treat-
ment. Sufferers should correspond with Messrs.
A. H. DIXON. & SON, 305 Ring Street, West,
Toronto, Canada, and enclose stamp for their
treatise on Catarrh. -Montreal Star, November
