• Whicp, was the Imbecile? •
" There',s always some fool tojump off
a train and get hurt," said the brake-
man, and frequently: the one who
jumps is just.the man who always claims
that he knows better and givesother
people lee nres for their. foolhardiness.
I'll never forget the little thing that
happened iene day as weevere going into
Indianapolis, On thetrain was .4.
sheriff who had in charge three imbe-
ciles whoth he was taking to the asylum.
They were not hand cuffed nor tied in
any "way, but were permitted to run
about the car just as they wanted to.
On board was a passenger who com-
plained about this .a good deal. He
thought the imbeciles should be tied up.
'They haven't any more sense than to
go and jump off the train,' he said, 'and
they shoeld be better ;taken care of.'
But the sheriff he just took things easy,
and said he gaessecl they were ell 'right.
Well, as e Were going- into Indian-
apolis I w s sta ding on the rear plat-
form. Tis omplaining passenger
came out, -ith us grip in his band and
hig. shiny lack hat on his head. As
we came o a street -crossing he said,
'Guess I'l get 'off here'? and before I
,I
could do anyt ing to , stop him he
jumped. e pr babiy thought we were
running sl w, bet those things are very
deceptive. He landed Mi his feet, but
be didn't stay there long. He just as -
Burned the shape of a „half circle, bent
the wrong way to be comfortable for
him, and ended up with his nose in the
mud and his heels in the air. Then he
spread mit and fell flat, kind o' sprawling out z,s if he wanted th cever the
whole street. But the funniest thing
was that as I turned to go into the car I
found one of the imbeciles looking out
at the door. He grinned as if he was
never so delighted in his life and utter-
ed : 'The old fool did junip, didn't
he ?' "-Exchange. .

Holloway's Pills.
The sudden clhanges, frequent fogs, and per-
vading dampness sorely impede- the vital func-
tops and conduce to ill -health. The remedy fo
these diseases lies in Moine purifying medicine,
like these Pills, which is competent to grapple
with the mischief at its aouree, and stamp it out
without fretting the nerves or Weakening the
System. Holloway's Pills extract from the blood
all noxious matters, regulate the action of every -
disordered organ, stimulate the liver and kid.neys, and relax the bowels. In curing chest
complaints these Pills are remarkably effective,
especially when aided by friction of the Ointment
on its walls. - This double treatment Will ensure
a certain steady, and beneficent progress, and
sound .health will soon be re-established.
