The Bottoria Drawer.
,
I NM my wife pull out the bottom
drawer of the old family bureau this
evening, and I went softly out, and
wandered up and down, until 1 knew she
bad gone to her sewing. We have some
things laid away in that drawer which
the gold of kings could not buy, and yet
they are relies which grieve us both
until our hearts are sore. I haven't
looked at them P r a year, but I remern-
ber'each article. 1 There are two worn'
shoes, a little ch p hat with part of the
rim gone, sotne Aockings, trousers, and
/twat, two or three spools, bits of
broken crockery a whip and several
toys. Wife -p r thing --goes to the
drawer every da of her life, and prays
over it, and let her tears fall upon
the precious art'cles ; but I dare net
Sometimes we speak of little Jack,
but not often. I has been a long time,
but somehow w can't get over griev-
ing. He was a •urst of sunshine into
our lives and hi going away has been
like covering our everyday existence
with a all. So netimes when we sit
alone of evening , I writing and she
sewing, 4 child o the street will call
out as our boy sed to, and we will
both start up wit beating hearts and a
go.

wild hope, only to find the darkness
more of a burdea than even." It is so
still and so quiet ow. I look up at the
window where h s blue eyes used to
sparkle at my c a ming, but he is not
there. I listen for Ms pattering feet,
his merry shout, lid his ringing laugh;.
but there is no so nd. There is no one
to climb over my knees,no one to search
rep pockets-, and tease for presents;
and I never find he chair turned over,
th4 broom down, or the rope tied to the
knobs.
I want some o e to tease me for my
knife; to ride on y shoulders; to lose
my axe; to follo me to the gate when
I go, and to be ti ere when I come ; to
call "good night' from the little bed
now empty. An wife, she misses him
still:more. ,Ther are no little feet to
wash, no prayers o say, no voice teas-
ing-rforjunips of agar, or sobbing with
spain of a hurt toe; and she would give
her ownlife, aim st, to awake at mid-
night and look a ross to the crib and
see our boy as h used to be. So we
preserve our reli s; and when we are
dead we hope tha strangers will handle
thein tenderly, eve if they shed no tears
over them. -An American Humorist, in

provided our breakfast tables with a dehcately"

Old Wounds, Sores, and Ulcers. -Daily ex-
perience confirms the fact which has triumphed
over opriosition for more than forty years -viz.,
that no means are known equal to Holloway's
remedies, for curing bad lege, sore., wounds,
diseases of the skin, erysipelas, abscesses, burns,
scalds, and in truth, all cases where the skin is
broken. To cure theseinfirmities quickly is of
primary importance, as the compulsory confine-
ment indoors weakens the .general health. The
ready means of cure are found in Holloway's
Ointment and Pills, which heal the sores and ex-
pel their cause. In the very (worst cases the
Ointment has succeeded in effecting a perfect cure,
after every other means has failed of giving any
relief. Despemte eases best display its virtues.
