wagon -maker, :of Kippin, died on Sun
day, the22ncllult., after a long=- illness
from consumption. For about_ eighteen
years the deceased -was ,a resident of
Kipper, and during that time, by his
industry and genial manner, madefor
himself end family very many warm
friends. 1 The funeral was one of the
largest ever seen in -the neighborhood.
The Oddfellowr, of whose order he was
a member, attended in a body. The
bereaved family end friends have the
sincere sympathy of the -entire com-
munity. His end was pe ace.
For•some time past reports serious-
ly reflecting upon•the Rev.. A. McKenzie,
pastor of the South Kinloss Presbyterian
church, :Have been' going the rounds.
One of these defamatory- reports, -said
to have been an emanation of one John
McLe n;1 of Ashfield, and also said to •

specially derogatory in its character, so
much so that the reverend --'gentleman
could not allow it to pass. It was in
substance, that on the receiving of every
fresh consignment of liquors by a certain
