Hon. 8.0. Wood, manager of the
Freehold Loan and Savings Company,
and Mr. George D. MoVicar, general
agent of the company, returned to Win-
• sipeg the other day from an extended
kip through the Province. They took
train to Mennen, where they secured a
team and carriage and drove to Pilot
Mound, Crystal City, Clearwater, Cart -
;aright, Desforcl, Deloraine; Plum Creek
and Brandon. From •the last place
they took train to. Regina, where they
spent a day. Returning to. Qu'Appelle
they again took a carriage and crossed
tcthe Fort. They -then drove along the
Qu'Appelle River, which they state is
probably the most pleasant drive in
ilanitoba. After visiting the Bell farm
they took train to Mooaernin, from
• whioh point they drove north to .Fort
Ellice, Birtle, Shoal Lake and. Minrie
does, and then back- to Brandon, from
which point they took the train home.

ern division of the Grand. Trunk rail-
way (eastern section) held a picnic at
Snspension Bridge on Saturday, July
26th. The friends of the railway men
turned out in such numbers that they
aggregated, nearly 7000, requiring five
special trains to carry them to the
Bridge. On Tuesday (of last week the
employees of the weetern section pic-
nicked at Port Stanley, nearly as many
visiting the picturesque shores of Lake
Erie. Tbe excursions were the largest
ever known in the history of railways in
Canada, and the promoters are justly
