Mr. John T. Middlemore, the founder
of the Orphan Children's Emigration
C=harity, London, Ont., heft Liverpool
on the 12th inst. in the steamship
Parisian, with a party of 50 girls and
100 boys between the ages of 3 and 15
years, who are brought out to this
country for adoption or hire, chiefly
among farmers. They are expected to
arrive at the Guthrie Home, near the
city, on or about the 25th inst. This
will be Mr. Middlemore's 12th annual
visit to these shores with juvenile emi-
grants from Birmingham, England,
since 1S72. Already many applications
accompanied With good references have
been made for the children expected to
arrive, but more are required. Further
particulars may be obtained by address-
ing Mr. 11. Gibbons, Manager of the _
Guthrie Rome, London, Ont.

Tire FooT BAIL MATCH. --The Senior
Foot Ball Club of the Seaforth High
School went to Berlin on Sat nrday last,
to play the final match for the Cham
pionship of Ontario with the senior club
of Dundas Collegiate Institute. This
match created a great deal of interest
among all the foot ball clubs, and
through securing such a good position
our boys have won for themselves con-
siderable renown in foot ball circles,
and have, even in this way, directed; no
little attention to our High School. The
match came off as arranged, and was
one of the most severe contests that has
taken place for a long time. After
playing the allotted time, one hour and
a half, neither club &cored as goal, and
an additional half hour was played with
the same result, and the match was de-
clared a tie. Another match was ar-
ranged for between these clubs to be
played in Galt next Saturday.
FROM RAPID CITY.—We have been
permitted to publish the following ex-
tract from a private letter recently re-
ceived from our old friend Mr. David
McNaught, of Rapid City, Manitoba.
His many friendshere will be pleased
to learn that himsf and family are en-
joying good health and a moderate de-
gree of prosperity. The letter is dated
Jane 10th, and proceeds : " I amsorry
to inforrn you that Mr. John Henry,
formerly of Hibbert, near Chiselhurst,
who resides within a few miles of this
place-, has recently met with a very- wh
heavy loss, caused by a prairie fire. His
house and barn together with 1400
bushels of grain and . all his farming
utensils including a new self -binder
reaper, were destroyed. He was just be-
gining to get along nicely, and now
this loss will put him back where he
commenced. The weather has been
very dry here this spring and if we do
not get rain in a week or so there will
not be half a crop in Manitoba this
year. The land, after a few crops are
taken off, works up like dry ashes and
the winds and hot sun in spring dry it
right out and down as far as the seed
goes. This- soil stands an excess of wet
better than the dry weather. We are
in great hopes of a railroad striking us
goon this summer. If it does we have
the best plane west of- Winnipeg. Be=
