—Wm. A. Seavor, editor of the
"Drawer" in Harper's Magazine, and
sontributor to Harper's Ba,zear,formerly
editor of a Buffalo newapaper, and
well known among the ilterati of this
sonntry and English circles, died on
Sunday of Pneumonia.
—The President has, pardoned Wm.
Pendergrast, confined in Auburn N.
Y., Pen ite n Marv. Pendergrast was ar-
rested in Buffalo, on a charge of trying
to pass a counterfeit silver dollar. After
itonviction the coin Was found to be
genuine.
—Miss Annie Cooper, of Troy, New
York, an invalid 19 years of age, and
unable to walk or use her voiee for
four years, recovered the use of her
limbs and voice the other day while
prayer was being offered for her by a'
slergyman. She says she was cured by
faith.
—Dr. George Dawson, of the Geolog-
ical Survey of Canada, has returned
from a trip to Europe, and after a care-
ful inspeetion expresses himself sat-
isfied -that the soft coal of the North-
West is superior to phat he sawin Ger-
many and Bohemia.
—A young student laatried Roderic
Mignon, was arrested at Montreal, on
Sunday with a body which had been
stolen from the cemetery at Actonvale
in kis possession. The student admit=
ted having stolen the belly, and was on
the way to Bishop'a College wlaeu cap-

—The expectations of easy recovery
anticipated in the cases of Thomas and
John -McQuillan, of Beverly Township
two of the victims of the terrible storm
four weeks ago, have net been realized.

instep. The patient was put under the
influence of chloroform, and has done
weri since the operation. Thomas will
getoff better, losing only a part 'of one

--A divorce has been granted to the
wife of Liente-iant Governor Tabor, of
Colorado, by =item' agreement on the
ground of desertion. The agreement
was madeta accomplish a settlement
and to make things easy for a decree.
Tabor deeded to his wife real property,
valued at $25 000. He also purchased
her an interest in 5 hotel, peying $38,-
000. In view of the fact that Tabor is
a prominent menaher for United States
Senator, the affair created a good deal
ef interest throughout the State.
—A Toronto lawyer who has resided
in Winnipeg for sonae ' time and who
recently returned from that city says;
