We learn with pleasure that Mr. jldon Bingham, eldest son of Dr. Bingkam, of Waterloo, has recently graduated as an M. D. at Victoria Col- , lege, Cobonrg.. —Premier Norquay has introduced an Act to establish a system of public schools throughout the Province of Manitoba, and the Attorney -General has framed a Bill to divide the Pro- vince into judicial districts, and to establish courts therein. —The 29th annual convention of the International Typographical union of North America assembles in Toronto on June 6th. The meeting promises to be largely attended by delegates from all parts -of the continent, and the local disciples of Caxton are making exten- sive preparations for their comfort and entertains cent. —The Syndicate surveying parties, ;foar in number, who are to : operate in the: Rooky Mountains district, left Win- nipeg on the 6 ib inst. Reid, of Kinloss,. on Monda.y..evcning of last week.. One of the victims was the well digger, a young man named Spind- ler, who leaves a wife and two children to mourn him. The other was Mr. John Brownsome, a neighboring far- mer, aged 60, who volunteered to go down the well to assist in taking up Spindler, but was also overcome by the poisonous gas. He was an old resi- dent, and universally respected. He was a prominent member of society, took an active part in the church, and. closed a virtuous Christian life in a fit- ting manner, in a noble attempt to rescue a fellow being.. Brownscombe's family are all grown up, and are in un- controllable grief at his untimely death. In experiment a dog was since let down the well a few feet, and when drawn to the top was almoststrangled, and a little later a hen, let down about 20 feet, was brought up stone dead. • Epps's Cocoa.
