TIM DEBATE. -The Kinburn Debat- ing Club met on Tuesday evening, 21st inst., to discuss the ,subject, "Resolved that State education is just," but . on account of the disapprobation of some of the members of the wording. of the resolution, it was changed to "Resolved that State education is 'in harmony with the best interests of society," , which change had the lamentable effect of disconcerting some of the `younger debaters. On account of . some of the speakers adhering to the first form of the resolution, it was impossibl to give a decision. It is to be hoped at this little incident will not deter t e older members upon whom we are p incipal- ly dependent for praotical in truotion in the art of debate, from ,a tending. The club will meet- again on uesday evening, January 4th, 1881, to discuss. the subject, "Resolved, that co-opera- tion is beneficial to society."-SECRn- TAii2, OUR ScaooL.-The annual examine, - tion of Kinburn Public School was held on the 22nd inst. This is a large School, about 80 children in. attend- ance. Judging from the number of parents,(about 50) present, the people of this section must take a lively inter- est in the education of their children. The examination was conducted by the teacher, Mr. Buie, assisted by Messrs. Lees, Johnston and Smith, of McKil- lop, and the teachers of the surround- ing sections in Hallett. j Two of the moat noticeable features of this school are the good order and advancement of pupils, especially the former, and ap- parently maintained without any ef- forts of teacher or pupils. f At the close of the examination the pupils were ad- dressed by the trustees;, Messrs. Mc- Millan, Nott and Britton; and some of the teachers present, all compliment- ing Mr. Buie on the very; efficient state of the school, and which eiddresses contained some very sage advice, which would be a great beueilt to teachers and pupils if acted upon.. ter -in the and Aman kitoh 'tion a hrist i otion sequel e mail -b ians rento moral wa he was' ht he li*in 10, well ing th eturiaii ed, a dren law of aze, I f ancy has e ns fitt .lis;'win ind of arms jug left esi es Jus is itis y Edeier, er ba •u , land, £ ,00{¢ i ice at t1ie ba ' iversi 1 acres 1 poses i ort from r ouf o $50(l bir y : ars e t ag roods e: Che b gro IV f O.
