Entrance to the shop was gained through a back window. The thieves ransacked all the drawers in the place, took with them the most valuable ar- ticles and left behind them anything common. The " hardware they took • from the small: paste -board boxes in which they were packed and left the boxes lying oil the floor. We may also state that a not quite two months have;elapsed since a cl s the fire occurred, and. on Saturday last Mr., Mann received the amount of his claim iu full from Mr. Shannon, the Treasurer. At the time of the fire there h was not a cent in the treasury,, and the i whole amount, over $600, has been as- n sessed and collected from the several members since then. This is certainly prompt work, and so long as . the officers of the -company continue to transact business in this way, there is no danger of the company's progress. In addition to this amount, over $900 has also been collected, and is now in the bank awaiting further claims. Mr.. Shannon wishes us to express to; the members of the company, his thanks for tine prompt manner iu which so many responded to the last call and paid up their assessments.
