company—Action on insurance policy.
This was brought against the Com-
pany by William Baird, a farmer in
Turnberry,. to recover insurance on
property destroyed. by -fire. The de-
fence contended that a fraudulent re-
presentation had been made in the ap-
plication for insurance, so far as incum-
brances were concerned. Verdict for
plaintiff for $612,02. - •

The Grand. Jury in their presentment
reported. having Inspected the jail, and
found that the courteous jailer, Mr.
Dickson, has to all appearance faith-
fully discharged his duty in keeping the
jail clean, and in caring for those coin-
mitted to his charge: They were pain-
ed to find. a young woman who has
lately given birth'to a child there. She
has been incarcerated for the past six
months on the charge of vagrancy; her
