A minister with a rather florid cora-
• plexion had gone into the hop of a
barber, One of his parishio-1 ers, to be
shaved. The barber was 0,1dicbed to
• heavy bouts of drinking, a ter which
his hand was, in consequence, unsteady
at his work, In shaving the minister
on the occasion referred to, he inflicted
a cut sufficiently deep to cover the

Before the erection of the tew pier at
the Castle Rock, passengers rom Dum-
barton had to be conveyed down the
Leven to the Clyde steamer. by a ferry
boat rowed by two sturdy and generally
elderly ferrymen. On one ccasion an
