BAz.—Th.e pton bazaar held on
Friday, the 17th,- under the auspices of
the Ladies' Aid of the Methodist
Church, was quite 4 success. Though
not much time had been given to pre-
paration, the bazaar was well furnished
.with articles whieh found a ready sale,
realizing the encouraging sum of $87.
The tables arranged by the ladies pre-
sented a tasteful appearance, and the
dinner was not enly everything that
could be desired, but was well patron-.
ized. Great credit is due to all who
took part in the arrangement, and the
thanks of the ladies are specially ten-
dered to Messrs. Hally & Anderson for
the use of their store free of charge.
A I:Rim Loss. Friday last
Mrs. Hannah Cooper, of Constance,
was so unfortunate as to lose or
have stolen from her pcoket
purse containing upwards of forty
dollars. As she wa 13 leaving her house
vacant for the day, she did not like to
leave so large a sum of money behind
her lest some person might break into
the house and carry itoff,. so she took
it with her, thinking it would be safer.
She is of the opinion that she had it in
her pocket when she entered the show
•
ground, and she missed it _shortly after
she left. If the purse has fallen into
the hands of an honest person, she will
no doubt get it again, but the probabili-
ties are that it was etolen from her.
LEAVING SCHOOL. --Mr. F. W. Sellers,
who has occupied the position of
secondteacber in the Seaforth Public
school for several years, retires from
that position on Thursday next, and
will leave town for Ann Arbour College,
on the following dey, where he will
pursue his medical studies. ltir.
Sellers is an excellent teacher, and by
his withdrawal the profession will lose
one of its meat able members. We
have no doubt, however, but that he
will be equally successful in the more
enlarged and important Sphere he has
marked out for nimseli. In leaving
Seaforth he carries with him the
good will and esteem of all classes, and
we are sure all willnoin us in wishing
him the greatest enteastireof Success in
his college studies. His successor here,
as is already knawn, is Mr. Henry
Cameron.
CO-UNCIL MEET' .—The Waterworks
Committee report that the contract-

his contract des' ea a final settlement,

that if he perm 8 this reduction, put
the hydrants, exit list and feed pipes in
a proper state of pair and execute the
necessary guaran ee bond, they recom-
mended. that he 10 paid the balance of
his contract. Th report of the Com-
