A Real Ship of the pesett.
A report comes from the Sierra Ne-
vada Mountains of the discovery of the
timbers of a stranded vessel, resembling
tl
lose of a Chinese: junk, high up in the
mouutaius, between Mineral King and
the head waters of King's River. The
sound portions of the timber resemble
camphor wood, and it is said still re-
tains a faint:smell. The fastenings are
of copper; the rigging, '&ce are of
course all gone-. A number of bones,
supposed to be. human, were alsolfound
in the vicinity, and. -upon the adjacent
elopes there is abundant evidence of the
previous oceupatiOn of the waters in the
shape of shells, as well as the occasional
findiug of :petrified fielt.!. 'That ' this
valley has at one time been an Inland
sea is admitted by geologistS, but that
these waters were navigated by Celestial
seamen, one or two thousand years ago,
has never been. claimed by the Chinese.
themselves. But these same people do
chum to have been the original discov-
erers of this country, and this find
scenes to give color to the claim. It has
also been claimed by them that vessels
of theirs have • been- wrecked on this
coast, and that portions of the crew.
have rieturued' to China, but that the
wreck itself should be located, and
that :this location should prove to
be in Tulare county, is surely an in-
terestina fact,- inviting the inspection of
the curious and the solution of the scien-
tific.

Reverence in the Pulpit.
Where there :is no reverence, there is
no godliness. • Where seriousness and
holy awe are in feeble exercise, there
the "powers of the world to come" are
feebly operative. But how d.eplorable
are the examples presented every *week
of the absence of this sentiment from
the pulpit. We can hardly believe the
types which thus spell out for us iu the
newspapers the word of irreverence
and the flippant nonsense which
are substituted for the. Gospel of
Jesus Christ in some ofthe pulpits .of
the land.

.E'LECTRICITY! TII0MAS'l EXCELSIOR ECLECTRIO
OIL -WORTH TEN TIMES ITS WEIGHT IN
GOLD. -Pain cannot stand where it Is used. It is
the cheapest medicine ever niade. One dose cures
common sore throat. One bottle has cured bron-
ehitis. Fifty cents' worth has cured an old stand-
ing cough. It positively aures catarrh, asthma,
and croup. -Fifty cents' worth has cured crick in
the back, and the same 4utiptity lame back of 8
years' standing. The following are extracts from
it few of the many letters that have been received
from different parts of Canada, which, we think,
should sufficiently satisfy the most skeptical : J.
Collard, of Sparta:, Ont., writes, "Send me 6 dozen
Dr. Themes' Eclectrie Oil, have sold all I had from
''.you -and want more now; ite cures are truly won-
der/al." Wm. McGuire, of Frenklio, writes, "I
have Holdall the agent left, it acts like a oho rm-
i t was'slow at first, but takes splendid now." H..
Cole, of Iona, writes, " Fleose forward 6 dozen
Thomas' Eclectric Oil, I am nearly out, nothing
equate it. It iabighly recernmended by those who
have used it." J. Bedford, Thameeville, writes,
"Send rec at once a farther supply of Eclectric-
Oil, I have only one bottle left. I never saw any-
thing sell so well and give such general satisfac-
tion. Thompeen, Woodward, writes,"Send
rne somb nicnie Ecleetric Oil, I have sold entirely
out. Nothing takes like it." Miller & Reed, Ul-
verton, n. Q., write, "The Eclectric Oil is getting
a great reputation here, and is -daily called for.
Send us it further supply without delay."Lemoyne,
Gibb & Ca., Buclingliam, P. Q., writes, "Send us

well." Sold by all medicine dealers. Price 25
