Matilda Willis, the unfortunate victim, was, a few weeks ago, to all appearance, a healthy and prepossessing gal itt the bloom of wo- manhood. She went to Stratford with two of her friends th be married to a young man named Worth, who resides in Mitchell, and 'who ptemise'd to meet them at the station and accompany them. But he didn't. The reason alleged for Worth's not accompanying his intended bride to Stratford, was that -his people, were opposed to the match. This seems, however'to have been a mere /else to get rid of the unfortunate girl whom he had ruined. Finding that her seducer had made her his dupe, her grief was inex- pressible. She had fondly hoped that once united. te him she might lift up, her head again in society. She refused to return to Mitchell with her friends, but visited a medical man, who afterwards attended her at the hotel where she was stopping, =awhile under his charge she died. It was supposed that an abor- tion had been committed. An inquest was held. and the jury returned a verdict to the effect, that the medical attendant, Dr. Lnca.s, did ,feloniously kill,. the de - 'ceased. The doctor was committed for trial. The deceased was a neice of Dr. Gardiner, of Lacknow, and was highly •respected by the peoge of the town where she lived. A warrant has been issued for Worth, the vile wretch who seduced and then meanly deserted her, but he has not yet been captured. Auctioli Sales.
