WILLSON & SCOTT Beg to direct the attention of the public to the following fade : They :make Speciality of the Best Pianos and Organs . a of in the Canadian market ARE, THE MATHUSHEK & CABLE & son CELEBRATED .PIA.NOS. Never before has any piano been sub- jected to such close criticism and severe , all b t tests by friends and foes as have the above named instruments. The scale, being so radically different from any other, so ingenious in its construction, and producing such wonderful power and purity of tone, has "attracted th at. tion and admiration, of mechanics, phj!. osophers and. musical critics, and they '0 have therefore been looked upon ag inne- f vationg by manufacturers and dealers in 2cc'E other Pianos, who, being linable to find . we be : ore. in them any weak points for assault, hal% endeavored to storm them by unjust les - i sertiors, But after ten years of thorough trial of the one, and Twenty of the other 1 fi the manufacturers are enabled to prove that they have more than vindicated the • highest -hopes of their friends, and are fast sitencing the guns of their enemies. I A trial is all that is required to thorough- ly convince the public of these facts. THE YOCEL & LINCOLN °CANS IAre universally acknowledged to be the best in the market, and each instrument I is fully warranted for five years. Tho - following are a few of the many &Ivan- tages we claim for thie instrument over all others made : The PATENT PIANO ATTACHMENT ire& complete success ; is fully proved and. tested. O C. WILLSON, eieaforth. • 4tocrow 13, 1876. \ .2111r• The Howic/r Shaw. The Ilowick fall 'show was held n the Tillage (if Gorrie on Tuesday, the 3rd inst. The daybefore promised an ex - talent exhibition day, but in the nneer- laiety of the season, the morrow dig - appointed the hopes of those who -an- ticipated fine weather." During almost the entire day the ram fell with short intervals in uncomfortable drizzling showers, at times coming down as heavily as to effectually prohibit anything like pedistrianism, To make the thing still worse,he previous rains had prepared the roads for the effectual climax, which ehs day's rain brought them to, and if the rain now and again subsided, the . mud roads were still to face. The show of stock, inrplements, &c., was held on the grounds of the Driving Park Asso- eistion, situated a few minutes walk out _ of the village, in which was also erected a temporary building for the agricultural proauee, ladies' work and other inside departments. Owing to the rain and mud, the number of spectators in the grounds was at no time during the day very large, and, indeed, the weather was the chief element that acted against the enemas of the show. In the outside de- partment, the show of horses as a whole, was not particularly large, though in -some departmente competition was keen. Cattle were below the average in number, though the quality of most of the ani- mals exhibited was good. Sheep were numerous and of good quality, and the same remark might also apply, in a lower degree, to pigs. The show of im- plements was small, and few of the articles exhibited were of the class for which prizes were offered. A couple of reapers and mowers attracted attention, and several cultivators, scatters and cutting boxes were shown. The inside ahow might be said to be fairly a success; in some departments, such as ladies' work and garden produce, the exhibits Were numerous and of a good quality; while in others, !such as dairy articles and grain, the entries as to numbers were below the average. Several articles presented themselves to the notice of the spectator as being above the average of the rest of the exhibition, but the im- possibility of identification renders it impraeticable th give any notice of them. In roots, beets and carrots, were excel- lent • turnips were email and scarce, and potatoes were numerous and of good quality, The Harriston braes band was in attendance, and regaled the spectators with well played music during the day.
