SIR : As I have been informed through
he EXPOSITOR of Friday last that Messrs. -
Jalui and Robert Shortreed intend to
cite zee beforethesession to prove the
charges made against the session;: and
against Mr. John Hyslop, a member of
the church, I beg to inform the same
persons of my willingness to appear at
any time to refute - the charges which -
they have made against our late pastor.
Of course, the refutation Of such charges
implies the guilt of -the persons who
made them. They seem, however, John
Hyslop in particular, to be ignorant of
the rules of their church.. The law of the
church is that the : eseion can meetwith-
out a Moderator, and- as I am urgent
that the truth should be set forth clearly
and distinctly without loss of time; I
demand them to uominate the day at
once when I eha11 appear. But let them
furnish me in the first instance with the
charges end specifications which they -
wish me to Brow-, Now, as the whole
matter has ap ie .ied in the public press,
I claire it as a right that the public be
• admitted to the church, and that disin-
terested peri:oyrs be appointed to adjudi-
cate upon the case. Yours, &c.,
A I.EXANDEIt MURC'ITIE.
