in his usual health, and engaged in a

-Mr. Wm. MeGillivrary, of the 3d
line, St. Vincent, County of Grey, has
for years been subject to a growing belief
that he was being acted upon by witches
or evil spirits, and latterly had begun to
threaten bodily harm to his children and
others. Under these circumstances it
was deemed advisable to secure his con-

accordingly incarcerated 111 the Owen

Herald, a child of Mr. Langley, who lives
two miles from town while playing in
the yard, was attacked by a rooster and
knocked down and spurred several times
in the face and head before the mother

was called in, found that one stroke of
the spur had penetrated the brain. The

-sA farmer from the neighborhood of
London, was before a County Magistrate
on Friday morning, charged with not
paying a hired man's wages. It seems
that the two were working in a field,
when the farmer cursed Providence for,
having sent the late rain -a sort of in-
verted acceptance of TyndalPs prayer -
test. The laborer reproved him, and the
farmer sent him adrift. The matter was
arranged by the wages being paid and
the costs divided.

This year Messrs. Birrell 'it Johnston are
the lucky men.
