THE MARKETS.
SEAFORTH, Feb. 25,- 1875.
During the past week the_ various kinds
of produce have been coining in more
freely, owing probably to the improve-
ment in t4e weather and the roads.
There has been a decline in the prices of
spring and fall wheat, and also in peas
and barley, en account of the decreaae in
foriegn quotations. It is thought that
there will be a still further fall in barley
during the next week. We quote :

TORONTO CATTLE MARKET.
BREVE:la—The receipts during th past
week were very light, and with a steady
demand prices were firmly maintained
for all descriptions. The arrivals by
rail were only ten. car leads, ,of which
four were taken for shipment east, and
the remainder sold for local consump-
tion. .We quote first-class $5 to $5 25,
second-class, $4 25 to $4 50, and third-
- class $3 50 to $3 75.
Sianata-2-Moderate receipts only are
still reported, and. prices are firm, rang-
ing from. $5 to $10 as to quahty.
Lattea—The supply has not been
more than was recttured, and fully pre-
vious prices are being paid. There were
sold one car, to dress 55 lbs, at $6 65,
one car, to dress 48 lbs., at 56, one car,
to dress 57 lbs., at $6 75, one car, to
dress' 62 lbs, at $7 25. Prices range for,
broken lots at from $1 to $8.

CATTLE. —Receipts to-qay 1,156 head,
making the total suppty for the week,
thus far, 6,324 head, or 372 cars, against
323 cars for the same time last week,
and 226 cars for the same time last year.
The market yesterday late in the day
-was fairly active, at an advance of tc on
opening prices ef I last week. Canada
stock is quoted a.t$1 50.
S.K-LEP AND LA.:MRS.—Receipts to -day
3,000 head, making the total supply for
the week, thus far, 14,000 head, against
10,800 for the sarae time last Week, and
8,200 head for the same time last year.
The market was slow this morning,
prices ranging from $5 85 to $6 62.
Hos.—Receipts to -clay 1,800 head,
making the total supply for theweek,
thus far, 7,400 head, against 9,500 head
for the same time last 'Week, and 10,000
head for the same time last year. There
-was no market to -clay, only one deck be-
ing sold, and that to ea local dealer.
About 12 cars in the yards unsold, con-
sistirta of common stock and light York-
ers. `This grade is not wanted by New.
York dealers, ana is entirely neglected.
If owners of this class of stock will force
it on the market, they must expect slow
• sales and small returns. Yorkers -hold-
ing at yesterday's prices, viz.: $6 50
to $6 85.
