THE EGMONDVILLE BOYS. We -have
received a communication fro the "Eg-
itionciville boys " denying that they cora-
niittecl the depredations in that village
on Hallowe'en, alluded to last week.
ACCIDENT. --We regret to learn that
Mr. William Allen, of this village, met
-with a most painful accident, on. Monday
last. tripped on the carpet in his
house, and falling heavily on the floor,
fractured his thigh bone.

PORk-PACKING HOUSE. --.*essrs. W.
S. Robertson and E. Elieksonihave start-
ed a pork -packing and curing establish-
ment in connection with Oe Seaforth
cheese factory. They propose to conduct
the business on an extensive bale. This
wiil be another important addition to
the business interests of Seaforth.'
NEW TELEGRAGII OFFICE.. --The Do-
nainion Telegraph. Company have open-
ed. a. new office at Carronbrook. This
office is under the managernent of Mr.
Joseph Kidd. The same company are
also making preparations to open an of-

whole realizing the aura of $5-,853. Mr.
J. P. Brine was the auctieneer, who' so
successfully wielded the 'hammer on the
occasion. • The result of the sale must be
gratifyiag, not only to Mr: Sparlina the
pi eprietor of the property, but also to the
peeple of the village, as the prices real-
ized clearly indicate the rapid increase
which has taken place in ,the value of
property in Sea:forth during the past few
years. The purchases were all made by
residents of the village; and the majority
of the town lots will be built on next .;
season.

BARN BURNED. -a-The barn, and stables
of Mr. Carey, on the Bayhel4 road, about

contained the entire grain , and hay"c op
of .Mr. Carey, also a bomber of valuable
fat thing implements, and the stable con-
tained four valuable horses, all of which
were burned. The loss is, estimated at
- $2 00, and there is an insurance for $800.
T14e fire is suppoosed to be the work of
an incendiary.

The necessary steps to procure the arrest
of the thief have been taken, but as yet
he has continued: to avoid the au-

• COMM ENDABL E. —A meeting of ' the
fatmers in the vicinity of Brussels will
•I 11 held at Parker's Hotel, on Tuesday
evening next, to consider the advisabili-
tt of fornsing a company for the par-
-chase of an imported stallion for the im-
provement of stock in the vicinity. The .
• meeting should be largely attended, and
we trust the object will be successfully
carried out.

• Larr WROXETER FLOURISH. —Since the
oPening of the railway, businessIas been
unusually brisk, and our most ;sanguine
epectations seem in a fair way of being
• realized. The amount of freight tarried
• through Wroxeter station is, indeed., sure
prising, and the rates for carrying are
considered rea,sonable. Messrs. Clark,
of the G-reenlaw Mills, seem to be doing
a large business, and are shipping lour
-• e tensively, sending away on an average
40 barrels per week. The. station' and
b ildings are nearly all comPleted, rind a

r. Stokes has nearly completed his

I ATTAt'KED BV A Fox.—A strange inci-
dent occurred on the farm of Mr. T. IL
Brandon, nea,r Belgrave, a few day ago,
the particulars of which are , as follows:
Mrs. Brandon' )(vent into a field at the
back of the house and was attacked by
large fox. She ran back toward the
house and 'called the dog, the fox follow-
ing her till within about ten yards of the
house. The dog then made for the fox,
but seemed. afraid to ta,ckle it. Soon. if

His loss on grain will am mit to 'some-

- We regret to learn of the death. of
Mr. Henry King, brother df the late Dr. i
King, which took place at his home, in
the township of Tecumseh. on Sunday
last. Mr. King had been in Seaforth
for some months, winding .up the affairs
of his brother. About two !weeks ago he
