times elected for South, Huron ; the first
time the election co-st .ine about $1,500;
the second, tithe between $3,000 and
$4,000, a petition was tiled against me
that time, but it was never pressed ; I
canvassed the constituency myself toler-
ably well on both occasions; not so much
in 1867; this time I believed $2,000

would coer-all my expenditure ; I knew
verylittle about the constituency in 1872,
as it had been geriermandered ; I keep no
accounts of my expenses, except house-
hold expensee and. petty cash; I kept an
=calla at the last election ; -I have a
copy here ; itis a true Copy ; I gave,
perhaps. $250 to churches in South Hu-
ron hl. 1872 and 1874, though I did not ,
intend to run again, the $50 given to ,
Callender was understood to be for Mr. '
Churehill ; 1 understood. he was -going
out to canvass; I gave $50. I think, to a

to Methodist Church on Friday at Ger-
ard settlement; $50 to a Bible Christian
Church at Creditou, s25 to a Church at
Maitland, $25 to a Methodist Episcopal,

Church in Stanley; these amounts were
given about Jan. 24 ; in giving these
amounts I had no idea of iafinencing
voters ; these amounts with my personal
expenses make up $2,80 ; I gave $500 to
Dancey, but , without any solicitation;
I had heard that there was a subscription
list ; I did not expect there would be a
quarter of, the amount raised that was
raised, then therewas$500 to Mr: Cal-

the Court, when His Lordship said I
think it sclould, perhaps, be giving you
both unneeeseary trouble to wait any
longer. .The whnle ea,se turns on the
single question of what weight I shall
attach to the man Miller's evidence: in
contradiction to that of Mr. Cameron
and Mr. McCutch eon. I can at-
tach no weight to it at all. He tells us
