The Annual Spring Show of entire
stock ander the auspices of the Grey
Branoll Agticultural Society was held at
Brussels Ora Tuesday last. The show of
stocli've,aa very good, there being several
imported horses and a number of super-
ior bulls on the ground. Canadian bred
horses were also well a,nd creditably re-
presented.; The attendance of spectators,
considering the unfavorable weather in
the early part of the day, and the bad
ata1e1 of the roads was quite large. The

A. CURIOSITY. ---As Mr. Haines was
engaged in taking clown the church on
the Sixteenth' Concession of Grey, he
discovered a fall grown live grasshopper
beneath theShingles, where he was sup-
posed. to have lainall winter. The little -
insect, thidiag he was discovered, made
an attempt to get away, bat Mr. Haines,
being a powerful'inan, succeeded in cap-
turing him, ond here him home .in
triumph, where he can be seen at any
time.

BASE BALL. - A meeting of the
Wroxeter Doncaster Base Ball Club was
'held in Goftoo's' Wednesclayllast, for
the purpose ofreorganizing the club.

-SUDDEN DEara.--We regret to have
to record this 'week the • very sudden
death of an estimable' lady resident of
this place, Miss -Frances Dennis, sister.-
inelaw-of Mr. G. Sparliug. Miss Dennis
:became ill -about 10 o'clock on Friday
forenoon, and died at 3 o'clock on &tut-
da,y :morning. The funeral took place on
Sunday and Woe attended by a large
conco-urse of friends and neighbors. The
funeral was hel-Cl under the auspices of
the Gorrie Lodge of 1. 0. G. T., there .
being aboutleighty members; of the Order
in the procession. On. the evening of the
same day an impressive and eloquent

congregation waited on Ir. Ross at the

high esteem in which Mr. Ross is held

• Hayes ve.GraY-The bill in this cause
was filed to restrain defendant, -who-is a
salt ma, nfacturer in Kincardine, from
uAing pi es placed. under the grate bars
in his f•4rriaces, for heating brine in its
passage to the evaporating pans, the ex-
elnsive uSe of which the plaintiff clairned
to be entitled to, by virtue of letters
patent *sited to him. The patent was
issued in May, 1873. The defendant
claimed that before the issue of the pat-
ent he had.' designed his furnaces with
pipes, without any notice. or knowledge
of the plaintiff's invention. The Vice-
Chancellonheld -thatthe defendant ac-
quired his knowledge, in regard. to the
plan of constructing furnaces with pipes
below the bars, from information obtained
from the plaintiff, and directed that the
question of the novelty of, the inventio
should. be argued before himself, on th
evidence of an expert, to be .hereafte
named by him, at Toronto. 3. A. Boy
and F. Hoinaested for plaintiff; C. Mos
and J. T. Oarrow for defendant.
Merchants Salt Co. vs. Gray -The bill
in this Cause was filed by the Merchants
Salt Company, of Seaforth, against the
same defendants as in former suit, to re-
strain them from using double Walls and.

not see what earthly use there is tin a
dog that will run Out and bark at; and
,requently bite horses as they are driven
along the road. It would be well for
parties having such dogs to remember
that they are liable to an action being
brought agaiipst them at any time for
damages caused by itheir dogs. It might
also be well to recommend the introduc-
tion of a little cold lead into the diges-
tive organs of thcsei animals through the
