The court closed oa atueday moin-
ing, the business haiing been all dis-
posed of by Friday night. The follow-
ing is the Presentment of the. Grand
Jury; "We, the Grand Jurors of our
Lady the Queen, beg to present that we
have visited the jail and find it in a very
clean and orderly state, and the Jailer,
Mr. Caro.paigne, very -dourtectis and at-
tentive to his du.tiet4 We found only
six prisoners therein, none of .whom, -we
are happy to say, ate confined for • any
serious charge. We conversed with
them and find that they have nothing to
charge the keeper with, and are as com-
fortable as they can expct tinder their
circumstances. We understand that
the clergymen of the diffrenb denomina-
tions latterly have not ,been as marked
intheirSpiritual Ministrations to the
prisoners as might ' be desired, hoping
that they will kindly volunteer their
services in the future and administer
Spiritual comfort to those who are out
before
a the way. We -*mild also recommend
that it be brought the notice of w
the County Council that e think there
are some slight repairs needed in and
around. the jail for the ccanfort and bet-
ter safe -keeping Of the ' prisoners. We
beg to congratulate your Lordship that
the criminal calendar is so light, and
hope that the County of Huron may
long maintain its, reputation for sound
morals and a strict observance of the
peace. All of which is respectfully sub-

market was active at strong yesterday's
prices. The bulk Of the cattle in the
yards were of inferior qualityl and stock-
ers. But few good droves offering.
Sales comprised about 1,100.liead. 'The
following transactions in Canadian stock
are noted: 22 Canada steers averaging
800 lbs., brought $4.50; 34 Canada
steers, averaging 1,040, lbs., ron-ghe $5 ;
22 Canada aeers, averaging 1,100 lbs.,
brought $5.56 ; 20 Canada

Western sheep ruled at $6.5 to $8, ac-
cording to quality; extra choice lots at
higher figures. No Canada sheep in

Hoas -Receipts to -day, including re-
ported arrivals, 2,300 head, making the
