E
SEAFORTH, Jan. 4, 1 ie
he Seaforth market for the:past week
has been brisk, and an immense amount
of produce of every description has been
brought in. Fall wheat is a shade high-

stl good, and buyers give the prices
clit ted without hesitation.. There is not
a -eat deal of barley oP'peaa offering,
awl the market for these `rains is firm
at the quoted prices. Butter has taken
quite, a lump downward. Good brands,
however, still meet With ready sale, but

\EW-YO;Z,1i HORSE MARKET.. •
Tu tsilev,_ Jan. ' , .18712.
The supply in the horse market- re-
.ceiived but few additions during the
week made review, - and sales were lien
ited to chea business horses, of w tch
the class c nmonly designated "`as ail
road horses as been in somewhat b tte;
c} mond ,• selling, however, at the, un
e anged fig ares of fr, in $165 to $1S' per
cad. > The market - for pleasure horse
of all kiiids, presenter the usual dullness
of the season, and we learn 'of no trans-
• actions to note. The sales at the''public
auction marts have been less attractive
than usual, and although well enough
attended, the- bids were as a rule ery
low, and the competition , inanimote.
Prices realised do not compare favorably
with those generally - obtained . at sales
through these channels. '

for. Holders. vieivs have probably been
affectea by the indications of film -mese in
Montreal, and they would be inelined to
65 80 to $5 85 for extra. • There was no

absence of transactions, is not quota le,
not even street prices, as there 'were no
farmers' loads offeted to -day. Bailey

Bueeraao, Jan: 3, 18724 -
The luMber trade has ruled quiet and
steady during the past week, with priees
unchanged. - The stock of pine now , in I
market is likely to hold present quota-
tions or advance, until exhausted; what-
ever may be the supply of green lumber
- next Spring., The process of seasoning,
as time gees on, adds to "the value of
every board now sawed. In some of the
hard woods prices tend. to &greater Beim-
ness, owing to the growine scarcen ,s..
Oak and cherry are especially mentioned.
- A few' pleasant and mild days like this
would undoubtedly encourage Wintr
building to a considerable extent, and
therefore stimulate the demand: for
lumber.
