The Royal Canadiaas. Bank.
Our readers will be pleased io
learn of the continued and increas-
ing prosperity of this institution,'
as shown by the offteial statement
placed 'before the shareholders at
tile late annual meeting. With the
;lbw inanagement, a new ere of
prosperity seems to have been inau-
gurated. The affmtirs of the insti-
tution are now conducted econone
ically and prudently, and the effect
of this manageuaent is clearly shown.
Ly the eubstantial dividends which
have been -divided among the stock-
holders. From a rickety concern
in which no person had confidence,
it hasbeenestanlished on a firm
and -paying basis and now takes
rank with the best moneyed insti-
tutions of the day, By the report
of the President, we find that a net
profit of $157,943 ham been realized
by the Bank on its transactions;
two dividends were paid, a mount -
leg to $82,926, giving the share-
_ hoiders seven per cent. for the year;
$28,000 were set aside as 'a contin-
gent fund, and the large sum of
$112,000 set a,side "to commence a
rest account." Of the management
