THE CONDITION OF THE CITY.
LeNDON, Mara 20.—The Times'
special despatch from Paris says the
respectable Iarisians. are stupified.
• -General Lecompte was abandoned
by his troops and -arrested on the
heights of Montmartre. General
Thomas was arrested in plain clothes.
The latter's lase word wes, " Cow-
ards" he fell at the third disAiarge.
President Thiers is firm, but full of
grief. General Vinoy's indignation
Is boundless. The Teegraph: s
special says on Saturday- the gend-

the latter returned the fire and
several gendarmes were wounded'.

AFFAIRS AT VERSAILLES.
despatch !from Versailles says
the Official Jpurnal announces that
the NVhOlo of the- Government, all
the authorities of Paris, and 40,-
000 pod troops under Gen, Vinoy
are there: The departmental author -
Hies have been instructed that they
must obey only orders from Ver-
sailles, otlierwise they will forfeit
their poaitions.
VARIOUS RUMORS.
The Prussians at St. Denis. Will
enterParis if the garrisonis increased
bevond 400,000 MOD.
The City is, full of Bonapartist.
agents. The insurgents for some.
days- pest have received five francs
daily, which is supposed to be fur-
nialled by these agents.
General DUVid isat the head of
the insurgents, and ‘is leading them
in their mad and wild career.
Tire m urders of Lecompte and
Thomas were perpetrated by order
of Riciotti Garibaldi, who directs
the insurgents. They were shot in
the garden of Rue des Roisieres:
Thomas resisted vigorously, but
Garibaldi ordered him to be fitheld
agaiust a wall while his body was
riddled with OtIllets. Lecomiite died
with the utmost coolness, smoking a
cigar and refusing a bandage over
his eyes. Many other executions
have occurred.
The Thiers Government contem-
plates a removal to Thurs. It is
said thau the Germans decline to
interfere WiLI1 affairs in Paris. A
ieport from the Freach capital says
the gen (lax merie collected from tlie
proviaces by Gen. Vinoy, have de-
serted and joined the insurgents.
