on Tuesday last. Deceased l was cross-
ing the river in a canoe in company

bruised, and it is feared- hur. internally

week's warm weather, and if Seaforth
does not stiffer from some dire epidemic
such as dsyentery, or , fever, we shall
cenclude that it is sheer contrariness on
the part.of the elements, and not be-
cause the people have not done their
best to secure such a scourge. - These
remarksetre not called forth wholly by

given daily utterance to by ,many well
advised persons

AN ENTIRE FAMILY SWEPT .AWAit WITHIN
TWO 'WEEKS. •
About two eveeks ago the wife of
Nathaniel- Middleniis, of the township
of MeK,eillop, died of an attack of dys-
entery-, within a week from that time
-the only child of the family died of the
same diaeage„ and on Monday last
Mr. Middlemis-hiruself went the way of
the other meth bele of the family. Such
a ,mortal sweep, happily, is of rare oc-
ctrranee and as might be expected the
present case has cast quite a glooM over
the 'section of country in -which they
resided. -

rains, causing such floods as have been
unperalleled fur years. 13ridges have
been -swept away and damaged in many

and vicinity, have generously consent -
