Queensway residents busy with activities
HENSALL Queensway Re-
tirement Home residents have
been busy with several activities.
Last week residents enjoyed their
eggs to order. Staff members Sandra
Johns, retirement home director Julie
Grimminck and food service supervi-
sor Joan Bradley set a fun Christmas
atmosphere for the residents with
their red and white hats and scarves.
A Christmas carol was sung by all the
residents at the end of the breakfast.
Several ladies have been using
their artistic talents to make their own
Christmas door hangers out of wood.
Paint, snowflakes, glitter, die cuts and
wire were used. Hazel Beaver had
the finishing touch with the bows.
Stringing popcorn for our furry
friends was also on the agenda. It was
voted to hand the popcorn outside rath-
er than putting it on the Christmas tree.
Steady hands beaded bracelets for
the Christmas Bureau. Over 25 were
made. Each bracelet had a different
colour on it representing Christmas.
December is national tie month. Dur-
ing our Tuesday Tea we discussed how to
tie a tie and where ties originated from.
Linda Bedard has been busy putting
the final decorating touches in the din-
ing room to create a beautiful Christ-
mas atmosphere. Everyone is invited
to come have a look at our Christmas
decorations throughout our facility and
as always welcome to join us for meals.
Residents went to spread some
Christmas cheer on Friday to the
nursing home while singing car-
ols to the nursing home residents.
Retirement residents had a Christ-
mas Gala Dec. 23. Residents are
excited to have their makeup and
manicures completed by staff.
Lots of Christmas cards have been
coming and going through the mail.
Peppermint month was also celebrat-
ed last week with residents discussing
all the different peppermint products.
Each resident who attended our tea
and chat received a roll of peppermints.
