An early Christmas
gift from Arc Angels
Helping out Community Living clients Above are

DASHWOOD Christmas
was made a little more enjoy-
able this year for Community
Living South Huron clients
after they each received $500
cheques from Arc Angels of
Dashwood.
Arc Angels, a thrift store now
celebrating its fourth year, was
started and is run by volunteers
of the Community Living Aux-
iliary whose mandate is to give
the profits from its sales directly
to approximately 100 clients at
Community Living to enhance
their lives.
Auxiliary executive chairper-
son Barb Consitt said, "It is so
heartwarming to see the smiles
on their faces when they receive
their money." She also thanked
the community for supporting
Arc Angels.
Arc Angels has given $1,200
each to Community Living cli-
ents this year.
The Auxiliary received many
thanks from Community Living
clients, including one letter that
reads, "We are so happy to have
the Christmas gift of money. We
will pay some bills and rent and
hope there s some left for new
clothes."
Arc Angels, open six days a
week, sells used clothes, furni-
ture, shoes, dishes, books, CDs,
toys, and games.
"We re the Wal-Mart of Dash-
wood," Consitt says, adding
Norma Hooper donated all of
her leftover giftware to Arc An-
gels when she retired and closed
Exeter D cor Centre.
Auxiliary member Donna
Greb adds that many students
shop at Arc Angels to furnish
their first apartments.

client and to make sure they re
part of society."
Auxiliary director Terry Atkin
adds that by selling used goods,
Arc Angels prevents a lot of
material from going to landfill
sites.
In addition to helping Com-
munity Living clients, the Aux-
iliary helps other charitable or-
ganizations and sends materials
to Nicaragua that can be made
into clothing.
Auxiliary member Donna
Greb said about 25 volunteers
run Arc Angels. Volunteer
Gwen Copeland said she enjoys
her time at Arc Angels and adds,
we have a great time here."
Auxiliary secretary Marilyn
Zimmer adds, "I love volunteer-
ing down here. Everybody s
great."
Fellow volunteers Gord and
Cecilia Smith also said they ve
enjoyed their time at Arc An-
gels and said the volunteers
work well together. The Smiths
praised the executive and said
they were "proud to be a volun-
teer and part of this venture."
