SHARON KIRKEY, Chair Huron County Christmas Bureau BARB HoGAN , Co -Chair Huron County Christmas Bureau DUBLIN MERCANTILE Located in Ontario's Furniture Village 59 Mill Street, Dublin, Ontario (519) 345-9922 www dublinmercantile.ca 6 Times -Advocate Wednesday, December 24 2008 OPINION FORUM&NEWS In response to Gordon Hill It is obvious Mr. Hill was not alert to what was going on in Ottawa before the last election as the NDP and the other Opposition parties daily said they were going to shut down Parliament. The Opposition parties were arrogant and acted like bullies. In fact, Mr. Layton bel- lowed for the last two years that he would take $50 billion in tax breaks from Canadian industry, but what t0 the did not need to know. That is was the first thing he did when )t bl (Wh th he arranged a coalition party with the Bloc separatist party? He dropped that idea like a lead bal- loon. This idea at this time was the height of stupidity. Who in his right mind would ever consider putting any trust in the NDP? Mr. Harper did get elected he did try to get Ottawa to act prudently and he did try to get the Opposition parties to raise their own money and not be given handouts by us taxpayers that is what the Opposition is all upset about because it was going to get them in their own wallets. The economic update is not a budget but it became ap- parent that Layton had conspired a long time before that he would form a coalition. The Opposition NDP and Bloc even said they would not vote for the last budget before they saw what was in it. Now, that is not why we send MPs to Ottawa. So, let s give Mr. Harper his turn. The Liberals had their 13 years at the trough and the polls show that Canadians No excuse for lack of communication As a resident of Hensall, I am appalled at the lack of con- cern shown to my family and all of the other families affect- ed by the Precautionary boil water notice dated Dec. 16. Clearly there was a problem with the water main on Dec. 12 but for whatever reason, the people -' M charge of the situation de Letters cided the residents of Hensall r unaccep a e. enever ere Edl tOr is damage done to a system the people who use the wa- ter need to know). Then on Dec. 15 yet again anoth- er problem arises. The decision to tell the people was finally made and on Dec. 16 a letter was issued to some but not all the residences. Then thankfully on Dec. 17 with the help of the radio and the Times -Advocate the rest of Hensall was told about our water problem, five days after the fact. Are the people in charge not aware of just how much water a household consumes? They should, they certainly bill me for it! I cannot believe that in today s society this could happen. The community should have been told there was a problem on Dec. 12 There is no excuse and none acceptable! CARLEEN LAWRENCE, Hensall do not want the NDP and Bloc having anything to do with running the country. I voted Conservative and I donated to them and I am not ticked and I am not demanding a refund. I have also voted Liberal in the past. Let the duly elected government get on with running Canada. GERRY SMITH, Exeter Compliments to Hensall Public Kudos to the principal and staff, and most of all the stu- dents of Hensall Public School for the great concert on Dec. 17. From the little people in Kindergarten (they were so cute); the Grades 1 /2 (especially Colton); the Grades 2 / 3; the Grades 4 / 5 (especially Devon); the Grades 5 / 6; the Grades 7 / 8(especially Jaden); to the drummers each student did a wonderful job. Each and every one of them worked very hard to put on such a great concert. The choir sounded wonderful. I know it must have taken a tre- mendous amount of energy and work for the staff to put together such a top rated concert. This is the first time I have been to a concert at HPS but I will look forward to attending many more in the future. A very proud Nana PEGGY STRONG, Clinton Dear Santa, This is all new to me, since this is my first Christmas. My sisters all tell me you re the kindest man on earth and you hand out pres- ents to all good little boys and girls. Well, I have been really, really good this year. Could I please receive some tractors, so that I can play with my Uncle Doug and my Poppa Chappel. Oh and I really would like some Tonka trucks. Love ya Santa, Liam Dunphy, 6 months old and every Bureau thankful for support It is with gratitude that we extend sincere thanks from all the volunteers who worked the five Huron County Christmas Bureaus and to the many donors from across the county who support our efforts. Orr By any standards this is a huge undertaking for a volunteer group and a pro- gram that would be impos- sible to manage without the backing of a generous community. As we write this letter the Bureaus are busy provid- ing Christmas relief for the MUNICIPALITY OF BLUEWATER EAVRELD - FIN - HENSALL.LEYZURICH - 2001 FORM 6 Municipal Act, 2001 SALE OF LAND BY PUBLIC TENDER THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF BLUEWATER TAKE NOTICE that tenders are invited for the purchase of the land(s) described below and will be received until 3:00 p.m. local time on 04 February 2009, at the Municipal Office, 14 Mill Street, Box 250, Zurich, Ontario NOM 2T0.
