CLASSIFIE CLASSIFI CLASSIFIEI
Enjoy your Christmas time with these festive recipes
It seems like this past year just zoomed by! So
many things in our lives change from one year to
another. What a gift to look back on another year.
I thank God for family, special occasions, friends,
health, holidays, comfort in loss, and I am espe-
cially grateful for hope! I trust that you will have
FREEZER COLESLAW
OFTEN AROUND A HOLIDAY WE WOULD VISIT
time to reflect, rejoice and renew over the holidays!
The recipes for this feature are hopefully help
for the extra entertaining we do over the next
few weeks. You have a salad for the freezer, a
fancy chicken and a fancy dessert! Try them all.
cooking with memories
WITH RANDY S AUNT AUDREY AND WE WERE
TREATED TO AMAZING STUFFING, GREAT COLESLAW
AND SUPER PRETZEL MIX! I THOUGHT IN HER MEMORY IT WOULD BE SPECIAL TO
INCLUDE A COLESLAW RECIPE THAT SHE SHARED WITH ME. WHAT A GREAT IDEA
TO MAKE A BIG BATCH AND STICK IT AWAY FOR FUTURE USE! THIS IS ONE OF THOSE
THINGS YOU CAN DO TO PREPARE AHEAD OF THE HOLIDAY HUSSLE! ENJOY!
1 med or large cabbage finely shredded
1 medium carrot finely shredded
Spanish onion grated
1 to 2 green peppers chopped fine
1 cups vinegar
cup water
1 cups white sugar
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp dry mustard
tsp tumeric
1 tsp salt
Bring dressing ingredients to boil and cool. Pour dressing over cab-
bage and vegetables and mix. Store 12 hours in fridge or put in freezer
bags and freeze. To use take out of freezer and let it thaw in fridge. If
there is too much liquid pour off and then serve.
HONEY CURRY CHICKEN
I OFTEN ENJOY RELIVING MEMORIES WHEN I PREPARE A RECIPE FROM MY DAYS OF
LIVING AT HOME. THIS RECIPE CAN EVEN CONJURE UP THE SMELLS OF IT COOKING.
THIS PARTICULAR RECIPE IS A REAL TREAT TO SERVE FOR A SPECIAL MEAL AROUND
THE HOLIDAYS! I LOVE TO OFFER UP SOMETHING DIFFERENT THEN THE HAM OR TUR-
KEY. SAVE THOSE FOR TRADITIONAL MEAL TIMES! THIS HAS A GREAT COMBINA-
TION OF FLAVORS THAT ENHANCES CHICKEN. SERVE UP WITH WILD RICE THAT YOU
HAVE STARTED OUT IN A LITTLE OIL, ONION AND GARLIC (BROWNING JUST SLIGHTLY)
TO GIVE A NUTTY FLARE AND THEN COMPLETED COOKING AS DIRECTED FOR THE
RICE.
1 chicken cut up
1 /3 cup butter
2 tsp curry powder
cup honey
cup prepared mustard (or Dijon)
Melt butter, add honey, mustard and curry and blend well. Roll
chicken in sauce to coat all sides. Bake at 350 for 1 hours in a large
pan covered with tinfoil. Use pan drippings over the chicken and/or
rice. Wow!

STUFFED
CHOCOLATE DOME
THIS IS A SPECIAL FEATURE OF ELEGANCE AND
SO VERY GOOD! THIS IS A REPEAT RECIPE FROM
DECEMBER 2004, IT REALLY DESERVES A SECOND LOOK IF YOU HAVEN T TRIED IT.
WE HAVE MADE IT TO BE THE SPECTACULAR DESSERT OF THE SEASON A NUMBER OF
TIMES AND YOU WILL GET RAVE REVIEWS OVER IT! IT IS QUITE EASY TO ASSEMBLE
AND CAN BE MADE AHEAD! RANDY SERVED THIS UP AT ONE OF OUR WAGLER
CHRISTMAS GATHERINGS AND ENDED UP CUTTING HIMSELF QUITE BADLY WHILE
SLICING IT UP. IT MADE A MEMORABLE OCCASION. THAT IS THE BEST PART ABOUT
HOLIDAY TIMES, FOOD CAN MAKE THEM MEMORABLE!
1 chocolate cake mix made as directed (using milk not water) and
baked in 2 9 inch round cake pans. Cool.
Filling:
1 instant chocolate pudding powder
(4 serving size)
1 cup milk
2 cups whipping cream whipped till stiff with
cup white sugar and 1 tsp vanilla (or frozen light
whipped topping slightly thawed)
cup toasted pecans (optional)
4 oz grated semisweet or bittersweet chocolate
Glaze:
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
cup whipping cream
Place saran wrap inside an 8 cup dampened,
rounded bowl. Ease one cake into the bowl and
push down to form a shell. If cake breaks, fit in bowl
as best you can. Beat the chocolate pudding with the
milk till smooth. Fold in whipping cream, nuts and
grated chocolate. Turn into cake lined bowl. Trim
remaining cake to fit over cream mixture edge to
edge. Freeze for at least 4-5 hours. Turn cake onto
wire rack set on waxed paper. Melt the glaze ingre-
dients together and pour over cake. Refreeze and
serve frozen.. Garnish with white chocolate drizzle
or shaved chocolate. What an incredibly great des-
sert. It will WOW everyone.
WISHING YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS,
MAY GOD BE WITH YOU, RANDY AND DEBBY WAGLER
