Nov 29 - SH 3 vs Dorchester 4 Goals: Jarrett Baker (2), Brett Reid Assists: Drew Horner, Sam McEwan, Charlie Tait, Reid The Sabres played an excellent game against a strong Dorchester team, which has only suffered one loss this season. The Sabres had a 2 0 lead after two periods, but lagged in the third, al- lowing Dorchester back into it. Baker scored his second goal with less than a minute left to play, but time ran out on the South Huron team. Dec. 1 - SH 7 vs Wallaceburg 0 Goals: Jarrett Baker (2), Jared Denot- ter, Ben Turner, Austin Glavin, Noah Mitchell, Sam McEwan Assists: Noah Mitchell (3), Brody Reid (2), Drew Horner (2), Connor Drager, Glavin Shutout: Owen Kuranyi The Sabres dominated at both ends of the ice and the score could have been much higher. The Sabres demonstrated some excellent passing plays in the first half of the game. Denotter executed a beautiful end to end goal and Glavin and McEwan both had exciting break- away goals. Dec. 7 - SH 1 vs. St. Marys 5 Goal: Megan Morrissey, assisted by Sa- matha Andrews Comments: Everyone played very hard with a short bench (way to go de- fense) Stephanie Simpson played an ex- cellant game playing her position. Atom AE Regional Silver Stick tournament Game 1: Fri., Dec. 5 - SH 1 vs Petrolia 1 Goal: Sam McEwan Assists: Jarrett Baker, Brett Reid A fine defensive effort by our Sabres helped to neutralize a strong offensive Petrola squad. Sam McEwan s persis- tence paid off as he was able to tuck away a goal in a scramble at the net. Donovan Brewer made several excellent stops to keep the Sabres in the game. Nice pen- alty killing by Noah Mitchell. Game 2 Sat., Dec. 6 - SH 1 v. Inger- soll 0 Goal: Brett Reid Assists: Sam McEwan, Charlie Tait An excellent game that was decided on a beautiful passing play with six min- utes left in the game. McEwan stole the puck in the neutral zone and fed Tait, creating a two -on -one. Tait feathered a pass to Reid, whose strong wrist shot Banged off the high inside post before falling behind the goaltender. Austin Glavin created several great offensive chances and only unfortunate bounces kept him off the scoreboard. Another excellent defensive effort supported by solid goaltending from Owen Kuranyi, who recorded his third straight shutout. Game 3 Dec. 6 - SH 3 vs Goderich 0 Goals: Drew Horner, Sam McEwan, Noah Mitchell Assists: Charlie Taid, Brett Reid, Ben Turner Looking to ad- vance to the quar- ter -finals on Sun- day, the Sabres got off to a bit of a slow start before Horner opened the scor- ing on a nice slap shot from 15 feet out. Jarrett Baker played an excellent two-way game and Brody Reid fought hard for the puck the entire game. A shutout for Donovan Brewer. Quarter final Dec. 7 - SH 0 vs Strathroy 1 This exciting game ended one minute into over- time after a tough battle. Tournament Summary Coach Tom Turner would like to thank his players for a strong tourna- ment and excellent effort. Given that the team only allowed two goals the entire tournament, much praise goes to goal - tenders Kuranyi and Brewer as well as the strong defence of Ben Turner, Jared Denotter, Connor Drager and Mitchell Dykstra.
