Queensway reaches out to help others
HENSALL Residents enjoyed a very
special Christmas church service Tues.,
Dec. 2 when Pastor Phil and Jenn Wagler
along with Lynette Roes and Mary Ellen
Zeilman, of Zurich Mennonite Church,
(all parents who homeschool their chil-
dren) brought residents a beautiful old
time Christmas program. With Benjamin
Wagler accompanying on piano the little
choir sang a number of Christmas carols.
Katherine Zielman read a Christmas story
and Karen Zielman played, It Came Upon a
Midnight Clear on the piano. Caleb Wagler
did a poem called "Snowman" for the very
appreciative audience and following their
program the young people and their par-
ents spent time visiting with residents.
Queensway's volunteer auxiliary mem-
bers were pleased to receive a small gift of
appreciation from the residents council in
acknowledgement of the many ways their
volunteer service has a positive impact on
the residents quality of life. At the family
council portion of the meeting discussion
centered around the truckload of donated
items on the way to Mississauga early in
the week for shipment to a third world
country. Collection of items for the Huron
County Christmas Bureau will start Dec.
8 for delivery to Exeter Christian Reform
Church Dec. 12. During this Christmas Sea-
son the true joy comes from what we can
do for others in these uncertain economic
times.
Community Living clients with their sup-
port worker Barbara, provided assistance
at the Monday afternoon bingo game and
in the evening residents welcomed one to
one visiting, games, and reading and remi-
niscing with Cassie.
Wednesday morning residents worked
out with Mandi and following exercises
participated in Chime Choir with Lisa
Stewart. Donna Smale was in to organize
euchre games in the afternoon. In the eve-
ning Murphy Bus Lines mobility bus had
a full load of residents for a wonderful
Christmas Light Tour throughout Exeter.
Residents welcomed the opportunity to
be out and about to enjoy the sights and
sounds of the season and another group
will benefit Wednesday evening Dec. 10.
Thursday afternoon Rev. Wilbert
Schwindt of Clinton gave a wonderful pro-
gram of violin music and also presented
a unique musical experience for residents
when he played the Whiskey Bottles. Rev.
Schwindt had quite a message to share
with residents through making music with
these unusual instruments. In the evening
student activation aide, Genelle assisted
some residents to experience a new style of
workout when she helped them play our
newly purchased Wii game. The Wii game
workouts are scheduled each Tuesday and
Thursday evenings for the adventurous
residents willing to participate as well as
other times times as desired.
Andy's Friends provided their upbeat
music for Residents who attended Friend-
ship Friday in the home lounge Friday eve-
ning, with volunteer Edna Deitz assisting.
Residents gathered Sunday afternoon for
a Tea Party with Sharon in the unit dining
room. Delicious piping hot tea and coffee in
our good china cups and special seasonal
sweets were shared among the residents in
attendance and any visitors lucky enough
to be visiting between 2 and 3 p.m. We
want to remind family and friends that you
are welcome to join us for all of our special
Christmas events.
Christmas came early for 92 year old Ar-
netta Baker of Queensway Nursing Home.
Her niece Rose Marie Rader of Dashwood
took her to see Kenny Rogers at J.L.C. Mon-
day night in London.
