Lucan Ilderton Jets grab Teddy bear donations
two overtime victories
By Ben Forrest
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
LUCAN The Lucan Ilderton
Jets came away with a pair of over-
time wins over the weekend, beat-
ing the Exeter Mohawks 4-3 and
the Tillsonburg Thunder 5-4.
Jarret Peterson (2), J.D. McFarlan,
and Todd Hunt scored Jets goals
against Exeter.
Jets general manager Rob An-
drews said the victory was encour-
aging.
We re a young team and you
learn by your mistakes, he said.
Against a team like Exeter which
is a really good team, you have to
play for 60 minutes and not let up
or they re going to capitalize on
their chances.
That s exactly what Exeter did.
They were patient, they played
their game and they capitalized
on their chances. We got lucky in
overtime.
Against Tillsonburg the Jets
led 2-1 after the period, thanks to
goals from Mark Landon and Ja-
son Wilson.
Landon scored again in the sec-
ond period but Tillsonburg added
two goals of their own, leaving the
score 3-3 after 40 minutes.
Todd Hunt scored in the third
period to give the Jets the lead
but Tillsonburg evened the score,
sending the game into overtime.
With 2:20 remaining in the extra
frame, Jason Wilson won a faceoff
and went straight to the net, scor-
ing the winning goal.
The Tillsonburg game was an
excellent game, said Andrews. It
was a fast game. We made some
young [players ] mistakes again:
we gave up two shorthanded
goals.
Not to complain, he added.
We picked up four points and
those are important points, be-
cause Exeter and Tillsonburg are
teams that we have to beat. In the
end, they re the teams that are go-
ing to be around.
Andrews said he is pleased with
the way his team has played this
season, saying it s a learning pro-
cess until playoff time.
You hope they get better every
week, and we re gradually seeing
that this team is getting better ev-
ery week, he said.
The Jets face the Clinton Radars
this weekend, and Andrews antici-
pates another tough game.
Clinton s only got one loss,
so we know what to expect from
them, he said. They re going to
be a good team and hopefully our
guys give a good effort, and hope-
fully we can see some people out
to watch.

Comments: South Huron
met an equally dominant
team in Lambton Shores, as
South Huron had to play its
best game and scored with
less than three minutes left to
tie. Dylan Kints kept the team
in the game with numerous
breakaway saves to give SH
a chance to win. Andrews
provided amazing play at
both ends of the rink scoring
two and teaming with Justin
Pym and Nolan Regier to
shut down their top scorer
late in the game.

Comments: The Sabres
played to a victory by out -
shooting Dorchester. Mitch-
ell Riddell made spectacular
saves in net during the third
period and Nathan McDon-
ald is commended for his
work in passing the puck.
It was a feisty game and the
Sabres are reminded to keep
their heads cool and in the
game at all times. Well done!
Nov 27 - Lambton Shores 4
versus SH 3
Goals: Nathan McDonald

Assists: Fraser Fulton, Kyle
Jones, Nick Overholt
Comments: What a great
game to watch. The Sabres
were down 2-0 and with dili-
gence they worked together
to get the score tied at 3-3. It
was tough to see Lambton s
winning goal in the last 54
seconds of the game. The
boys will continue to enhance
their passing and ensuring
they spread out on the ice in
order to be successful at Sil-
ver Stick this weekend.
