Give thanks for those who serve and protect
By Mary Peterson
CENTRALIA CORRESPONDENT
CENTRALIA On Sun., Nov. 9,
Sandi and Brad Skinner and their
family greeted everyone coming
to worship at Centralia United
Church. Mr. Peter Gummow wel-
comed everyone to worship. The
Christ candle was lit in memory
of those who served and continue
to serve to protect others.
Everyone joined in the call to
worship and the opening hymn,
God of Freedom, God of Justice.
There were several prayers, and
then Kay Tripp and Madalene
Tasko read the Minute for Mis-
sion. Marjorie Johns accompa-
nied the choir for the anthem,
Let's Build A House from the new
"More Voices" songbook.
Peter Gummow read the Scrip-
ture from Micah 4:1-5 and John
15:12-17. Following the hymn Je-
sus' Hands Were Kind Hands, Pe-
ter asked everyone to think about
love and war and the choices in
their lives that reflect these top-
ics.
Everyone joined to sing the
hymn Unto the Hills. Brad and
Sandi Skinner assisted with col-
lection of the offering.
Rev. Ray Hagerman led the cel-
ebration of sacrament and invited
everyone to join in communion.

WHEN YOU ARE HAVING YOUR FRIENDS IN FOR A NICE DINNER
IT IS NICE TO SERVE UP A DIFFERENT
TYPE OF SALAD. I HAVE FOUND THAT
A SIMPLE WALDORF SALAD IS A GREAT
WAY TO ENJOY A PORK DINNER. THE
CRUNCHY APPLE AND NUTS COMBINED
WITH A CREAMY DRESSING GOES OVER
SO WELL. THIS IS ONE OF MY SIMPLE,
ON HAND INGREDIENT RECIPES THAT CAN HELP MAKE A MEAL IN
A JIFFY!
TRY IT TONIGHT.
Apples, washed, cored and cut into bite sized
chunks (about one per person)
Rib of celery chopped fine
Walnuts (toasted in a hot skillet till just starting to
brown -watch closely)
WHIPPED SALAD DRESSING MIXED WITH A PINCH OF SUGAR AND
1 TBSP VINEGAR
PREPARE THE APPLES, CELERY AND WALNUTS. PUT JUST
ENOUGH DRESSING TO COVER THE INGREDIENTS. SERVE COLD.
*ADD IN HALVED GRAPES AND /OR CHUNKS OF PINEAPPLE FOR
ANOTHER TWIST.

A Regional Wrap brief in last
week s paper titled E. coli find-
ings should have stated that the
E .coli contamination found in
Egmondville came from samples
from the storm sewer system.
