The Times Advocate, 2008-11-05, Page 2424 TIMES -ADVOCATE Wednesday, November 5, 2008 Announcements/Community Fl Alzheimer Society receives award HURON — At the Fall Leadership Conference for Alzheimer Society of Ontario, the Alzheimer Society of Huron County received the Circle of Excellence Award. The Circle of Excellence award is given to a chapter on completion of their Peer Review. Peer review results give chapters a snapshot of where they stand in their striving in excellence, and what they have yet to do to achieve that aim in all areas. Building on the results of peer review, chapters can improve the effi- ciency of their operations. A consistent peer review system demonstrates account- ability to stakeholders, donors and enhances a chapter's cred- ibility, according to a press release from the Alzheimer Society. The peer review process is an invaluable opportunity to share knowledge and experi- ence with peers from other chapters. In 2000 the Alzheimer Society of Ontario launched an ambitious venture: the Ensuring Quality Standards Project. Peer review is a tool for achieving chapter excellence. It is a method chapters can use in assessing their status and progress in key quality areas. The assessment is guid- ed by others in the Alzheimer Society in Ontario.
