Lucan-Ilderton Jets suffer
first loss of the season
By Ben Forrest
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
TAVISTOCK The Lucan-Ilderton Jets
lost their first game of the year on the week-
end, surrendering a 6-3 decision to Tavis-
tock.
The Jets led 1-0 after the first period thanks
to a goal from Ryan Fletcher, but surren-
dered six goals in the second period.
The referees seemed to think we should
spend some time in the penalty box in the
second period, said general manager Rob
Andrews, noting that Jets player Jeff Cook
also scored in the second frame.
Fletcher added his second goal in the third
period, while Tavistock was held scoreless.
Two of the three periods we outscored
them and we outplayed them, said An-
drews. The second period we just ran into
penalty trouble, and those are little things
you re going to have to play through.
Some nights the refereeing just isn t go-
ing to go your way, and you ve got to deal
with that.
Andrews noted the team was working
hard initially but may have underestimated
Tavistock.
I think they figured, This could be easy,
and they let up in the second period, he
said.
When you let up, you tend to get those
lazy penalties, and Tavistock is too good of
a team to have a letdown against.
As soon as you do that, they 11 jump on
you and capitalize on any chances they
get.
The Jets feature 12 new players this year,
but playing the majority of their early games
on the road has helped team chemistry, An-
drews believes.
If we can weather the storm and get over
this extended road trip we re on once we
get back to the friendly confines of Lucan
we should be OK, he said.
Andrews also believes the team s younger
players are starting to acclimate to the type
of hockey played in the WOAA.
We ve got some real young guys coming
out of Jr. B where those guys were on the
ice maybe three, four times a week, said
Andrews.
It s quite an adjustment for those young
guys to go from being on the ice three or
four times a week to Senior hockey, (where
they 11 only be on the ice) maybe twice a
week.
The Jets will play Petrolia next, and An-
drews anticipates an-
other tough contest.
We re going to have
to go in there and play
a typical road game,
which is a one -goal
game, and play them
really tight and hope
for the breaks, he said.
Hopefully we re the
team that comes out of
there (with a win).
Two hat tricks from Irish
players in victory
By Ben Forrest
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
LUCAN The Lucan Irish
notched a lopsided victory at
home on Oct. 29, beating the Ayr
Centennials 7-3.
Lucan s Adam Hartman opened
the scoring with a power play goal
assisted by Tyler Medd.
Medd then netted a goal of his
own, the assists going to David
Latta and Zack Yeo.
Ayr answered back with a goal
from Robbie Martin, but Medd
scored unassisted with roughly
four minutes remaining, leaving
the score 3-1 for Lucan after 20
minutes.
Medd then scored early in the
second period, capturing a hat
trick with helpers from Darcy
Ward and Yeo.
Ayr scored its second goal of the
game 90 seconds later, but Lu -
can s Dustin McTaggart scored
with roughly five minutes re-
maining, making the score 5-2
for Lucan.
McTaggart scored Lucan s first
goal of the third period, a pow-
er play effort assisted by Alex
Regan.
Ayr s Andrew Tapsell scored
his team s final goal of the game
with five minutes remaining,
while McTaggart notched his
second goal of the period and
third of the game with 3:20 re-
maining.
Goalie Trevor Pearce stopped
23 shots in the victory, while
Ayr s Kyle Debus had 27 saves
in the loss.
Lucan plays Wellesley at home
tonight (Nov. 5) before heading
to Mt. Brydges on Saturday.

Plan number 1-2-623 IDEAL HOME FOR EMPTY NESTERS This two-bedroom family home, which includes a den
and an unfinished basement, would be ideal for a couple of empty nesters ora young family just starting out. The basement
space could serve as a mortgage -helper suite, or provide extra room when the children come along.
Entry is via a covered porch, great protection in inclement weather, and through double glass doors into an L-shaped foyer
where a coat closet occupies one end. Access to the double garage is located nearby. To the left of the entrance, through
double doors, is a den or third bedroom, with a view to the front garden. Adjacent is the dining room, easily accessible from
both the kitchen and great room and open to the corridor that leads from the foyer. The kitchen and great room flow seam-
lessly into one another, and both share a dramatic vaulted ceiling that will add a feeling of airiness to the rooms. The great
room's gas fireplace will make it a favourite spot on cool evenings, while the doorway that opens to the sundeck at the back
of the home will provide the perfect spot for al fresco dining during the warmer months. The kitchen features a window over
the double sink that looks beyond the sundeck to the back garden. An L-shaped counter configuration promises efficiency,
and a spacious pantry with double doors will augment the storage space. A two -seat eating bar at one end of the work
island will provide a handy spot for casual meals, as well as for guests who want to chat with the cook. The master suite
also boasts a vaulted ceiling, as well as a generous walk-in closet. The ensuite includes a soaker tub, for a touch of spa -like
luxury, as well as a comer shower. Next to the ensuite is the second bedroom, with a window to the side garden. A linen
closet is tucked into space between this bedroom and a three-piece bathroom. Nearby, double doors conceal the washer
and dryer. Exterior finishes include wood shingles, horizontal siding and painted trim. Cut -stone accents and double pilas-
ters add a dash of class. This home, designed for a lot that slopes downward at the back, measures 42 feet wide and 64
feet deep, for a total of 1,688 square feet of living space, plus the unfinished basement
