We plan to use the William Willimon mentoring program entitled Making Disci- ples. Each confirmand is matched with a mentor who work individu- ally with each other. Also, everyone gathers for special events such as a pizza party and group visits to other venues. Mentors receive training and on- going support. Mentors and confir- mands meet as they arrange to do so. Training/preparation is slated to begin in November, beginning with a meeting with all potential confir- mands and parents. Actual gath- erings etc. are expected to start in January with a confirmation service at the beginning of June. Members of the planning/prepa- ration team are asked for input about possible mentors and the confirmands are consulted as well. Confirmation is very much a com- munity event. Please consider being a mentor. Please keep everyone involved in your prayers. Any questions about any aspects of this significant event, please feel free to contact Rev. Ju- dith. This past Wednesday, we celebrat- ed communion with residents of Exeter Villa. Thanks to members of UCW who helped with the service. You really make a difference. Rev. Judith and your worship com- mittee welcome and invite your cre- ative input. We invite everyone to write and to share prayers and bless- ings that you feel moved to create. Your offerings could help with preparation of services. All submis- sions will be credited to the authors. Sun., Nov 9 - Guest speaker Mark Graves. Rev. Judith will be presiding at Crediton for baptism and commu- nion. As they are currently without clergy, M and P and worship com- mittee agreed that it is with commu- nity spirit that we share our resources. Rev. Judith met with our new youth minis- ter this past week. As this is a brand new min- istry, this time is get -to -know -us time. Kathy Douglas is seeking ways to nurture youth in our very large Presbytery. She hopes to be actively involved in confirmation. In addi- tion she hopes to take part in a service here very soon in the new year! If you want to know more, please talk with Rev. Judith. We still have a number of cookbooks avail- able for the reduced price of $3 or 4 for $10. Start your Christmas shopping early. Items for the next news letter are due Nov. 16 to Ruth Anne Osgood.
