HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Times Advocate, 2008-11-05, Page 16UNDERCOATING 16 Times -Advocate Wednesday, November 5, 2008 Kause for Kids rolls along in Grand Bend Seventh annual parade It was another successful Kause for Kids parade in Grand Bend Saturday, which saw hundreds of motorcyclists dress their bikes up and raise money, toys and teddy bears for children with special needs in Huron, Middlesex and Lambton counties.While final numbers weren t available as the Times - Advocate was going to press, last years efforts raised $40,315 and about 1,200 toys.Above left, Nelson Desjardine, one of the parades organizers, led the parade Saturday morning, while at right, George Couckuyt and organizer John Relouw stand with toys collected along the route. Desjardine called Saturday a great day, and said he was pleased with the turnout. He also points out Kause for Kids donated $5,000 last year to South Huron Hospital and to the Children s Hospital in London. Contest winners in the bike competition were Carol Blake of Seaforth, first; Gord Studerus of Grand Bend, second; and Peter Hagemann of Port Franks, third.Also, Si- mon Desjardine, owner of Desjardine Wealth Management raised $5,150 for Kause for Kids and donated the prizes in the Spin Two Win contest.Winners were Steve Reid of Grand Bend (a vacation package); Patti Gray of Grand Bend (a 42 -inch PlasmaTV); and Mike 0 Rourke of Zurich (a Tom -Tom GPS).
