Lucan-Ilderton Jets
continue to soar
PERTH The Lucan-Ilderton
Jets continued their winning ways
over the weekend with victories
against Monkton and Milverton.
Friday found the Jets playing in
Monkton, where they trailed the
home team 2-1 after the first pe-
riod. Kyle Smith had the lone Jets
goal that period.
The game was tied 3-3 after the
second period, with Dan Crowley
and Mark Landen scoring the Jets
goals.
J.D. McFarlan scored two Jets
goals in the third period, but
Monkton scored with 17 seconds
left, tying the game at 5-5.
A five-minute overtime settled
nothing, but the Jets outmatched
Monkton in a shootout, scoring
three goals to Monkton s one.
Jets scorers in the shootout were
Mark Landen, Jaret Peterson, and
Martin Krayzel.
Saturday night against Milver-
ton, the Jets led 1-0 after the first
period, on the strength of a goal
from Peterson.
The Jets added two more goals
in the second period, courtesy of
Peterson and Smith.
The final score was 7-4 in favour
of the Jets, with Jeff Cook, Drew
Belt and Scott Mezenberg each
scoring goals.
Coach Rob Andrews noted the
team s next game will be Friday in
Tavistock.
When I did our schedule this
year, eight out of our first 10 games
were away games, he said.
We have a relatively new team
we ve got 12 new players in the
lineup so I thought it would be
a good way for the guys to get to
know each other by travelling on
the road together.
So far, knock on wood, it has
paid off. We haven t lost [in regu-
lation time] yet. If you re success-
ful on the road, then when you get
back home it could make things a
lot easier for you.
Indeed, the Jets record to date
boasts three wins and one over-
time loss. Their only defeat came
at the hands of the squad from
Clinton.
Tavistock, the Jets next op-
ponent, is 4-0 thus far, Andrews
said.
