Carmel Church with dinner and reception held at the Bluewater Complex. Darryl is the son of Sylvia Smale of RR 3 Zurich. The cou- ple will live in Exeter. Congratulations go out to bride and groom Julie Genttner and Bob Grant who were mar- ried at the Fire Rock Golf Course at Komoka (with several relatives from the Zurich area attending. The bride is the daughter of Ken and Linda Genttner of Dashwood. The couple will be residing in Lucan. Karen and Ben Geiger of RR2 Hensall are happy to announce the arrival of their baby girl Kamryn Victoria born on Oct. 13. Julie and Bill Towton of RR 2 Hensall are happy to announce the arrival of a baby girl Marcy Michelle, born on Oct. 15. Richard and Amanda Salz (nee Ducharme) of Hensall are happy for the arrival of their first baby, a boy named Karl Thomas born on Oct. 18. St. Boniface CWL Be sure to attend the St. Boniface C.W.L. Bazaar this Sat., Oct. 25 in their Parish Hall downstairs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to a hymn sing evening on Sun., Oct. 26 at the Zurich Mennonite Church beginning at 7 p.m. which is part of their 100th anniversary celebration. Best wishes for a speedy recovery is extended to Neil Gingerich and Ken Gingerich as well as LeeAnne Bechard and Mike Fagan who had all been in the hospital. Bus trip to Niagara Falls There is still room on the bus for a trip to Niagara Falls on Dec. 2 and 3 to see the Festival of Lights and to see four shows. Penny sale St. Peter's Parish (St. Joseph) will be having their annual Penny Sale on Sun., Nov. 9 fol- lowing 10:30 a.m. mass in their hall. Little Amy Marie Smith and Allison Marie (twins) of Rick and Michelle Smith, Zurich were baptized recently at St. Boniface Church. There will be a free flu shot vaccine clinic on Tues., Nov. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. and again on Sat., Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Blue Water Complex. Everyone is encour- aged to attend. The Lions Club will be having their dinner/meeting at Erb's Country Kitchen Wed., Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. with president Sherman Roth. Zurich Golden Agers The Golden Agers' next card party (progressive euchre) is on Mon., Oct. 27 at the township hall at 7:30 p.m. The Zurich Golden Agers and Dashwood Good Companions hosted the annual fall Zone 8 Seniors Rally at the Bluewater Community Center in Zurich on Oct. 9 with close to 100 mem- bers attending from 12 clubs which are Arkona, Auburn, Belgrave, Blyth, Dashwood, Exeter, Grand Bend, Londesborough, Varna and Zurich. Our guest Father Peter Keller was our speaker, reminding us that even though we are seniors we are here for one another, helping each other by working together. Reports were given from United Senior Citizen of Ontario Convention held in August. The event was filled with fun activi- ties, skits, readings and draws making for a pleasant day. Also on Tues., Oct. 28 St. Boniface K of C card party will be held in their parish hall at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is wel- come! Upon arrival at the scene, an employee con- firmed that a break and enter had occurred at the store. The suspect(s) entered through the front door to the store and then made their way to the electronics section. A quantity of electronics, valued at more than $16,000 was stolen from the store. The investigation is ongoing but the Huron OPP is asking that if anyone witnessed any suspi- cious activity in that area at the time or if they have any infor- mation about the incident, they are encouraged to call the Huron OPP at 1-800-310-1122 or CRIME STOPPERS at 1-800- 222-T.I.P.S. (8477). and family for Thanksgiving. Laurene Zehr has moved to the apartments at the rest home recently; while Marie Cyr is now a resident at the Queensway Nursing in Hensall. Trick or treaters Get ready for the kids coming around for their Halloween treats on Fri., Oct. 31. Be sure to have pumpkins lit and your porch lights on. A family get-together was held at the home of Cecilia Farwell last Saturday with her children coming form various places. John and Mary Jacobs of Hensall returned home recently from a two week vacation in Holland where they visited with family members and attended the 50th anniversary celebra- tion of her brother Bas and Taney Vermue. The ladies auxiliary meeting will be held at the rest home on Tues., Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. Members are asked to please bring each two items for the grocery hamper to be used as a draw at the annual residents family Christmas dinner on Sun., Nov. 16. Membership dues will be col- lected for 2009 and are $5. Please come out and join us, everyone is most welcome. They attended the home- coming ceremony of the USS Abraham Lincoln on Oct. 12 that was returning after a seven month deployment in the Persian Gulf to the homeport of Everett, Washington. Sean's mother and grandmother from North Carolina were also on hand for the homecoming. Cindy's son Joe (from Whistler, B.C.) was also on the ship when it returned to port as he was one of the Tiger Cruise partici- pants that boarded the ship in San Diego, California for the last three days of the cruise. A traditional Canadian Thanksgiving was celebrated at the home of Sean and Michelle and there was time for sightsee- ing in Seattle.
