Judith Ritchie was in charge of the Thanksgiving church service on Sunday morning. The opening hymn Come Ye Thankful People Come was sung. Rev. Judith gave words of welcome and everyone Passed the Peace. The Indroit We Praise You For Your Love was sung. Rev. Judith led in the Call to Worship responsively and everyone read the opening prayer. Kathy Bray lit the red candle for peace. Rev. Judith read the Old Testament Lesson Deuteronomy 8:7-18. Rev. Judith told the children "I'm Thinking Of Children" and had them drawing. The choir numbering 15 sang We Thank You Lord to a CD accompaniment which was well done. The Epistle Lesson 2 Corinthians 6-15 was read by Kathy Bray. The title of Rev. Judith's mes- sage was "Yaddah, Yaddah, Yaddah." We were given our sheets and we were to write what we were thankful for and then they were read out. The hymn For The Fruit Of All Creation was sung. The Affirmation Of Our Faith "A New Creed" was read in uni- son. Karen Etherington and Sharon Lynn received the offer- ing. The Doxology was sung with Jean Hodgert as accompanist. The Offering Prayer was read in unison. Rev. Judith had prayers for the people, mostly farmers. The hymn All Creatures of our God and King was sung. Rev. Judith gave the Commissioning and pronounced the Benediction. Everyone sang the Choral Benediction. The front of the church was tasteful- ly decorated with small sheaves of wheat and a pyramid of veg- etables and fruit and also downstairs was a horn of plenty with vegetables and fruit which was done by the worship com- mittee. It was a very beautiful Thanksgiving theme. Announcements Rev. Judith will be away for continuing education from Oct. 15 to Oct. 22. This year our church is deco- rating the market place for the Bethlehem Walk. We are look- ing for volunteers to help with painting scenes on cloth, donat- ing items and helping to set up. We are also looking for volun- teers who would like to partici- pate in the drama portion. The Bethlehem Walk is Nov. 28. Upcoming Events Oct. 19 - Guest speaker Les Mins. Exeter United Church BBQ beef dinner and entertainment (Music and Madness) at 6:00 p.m. at the South Huron Rec. Centre. Tickets are: adults $15, children(7-12) $6, and 6 & under free. Oct. 22 - Bethlehem Walk choir practice at 7:30 p.m. at Kirkton UC. Oct. 24 - Hallowe'en party at 6:30 p.m. followed by pot -luck snack. Please bring pot -luck snacks. Nov. 28 - Bethlehem Walk at the KW Community Centre at 7:30 p.m. Include in your prayers the children nourished by the Eastern Guysborough Breakfast Program - work supported by the M & S Fund. This week we pray for the work of Vancouver's First United Church inner-city min- istry, which offers shelter, food and counseling with the support of the M & S Fund. Personals Quite a number of relatives attended the visitation on Friday evening and also attend- ed the funeral on Saturday for the late Melvin Coward at the Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, London. Sympathy is extended to his brother, Allen Coward, and his two sisters, June Stewart and Labelle Dixon and their families and relatives. Karel Hodgert of Toronto spent the holi- day weekend with her cousins Arnold and Marion Cann. Mrs. Helen Nelson of Dunfries, Scotland and her twin broth- er William Dalrymple of Glasgow, Scotland spent last week with Murray and Beatrice Dawson. Their parents lived where Keith and Donna Wonnacott do. Their father, Mr. Dalrymple, worked for Mr. Fred Dawson.
