Exeter Chapter celebrates 70th
Happy birthday — On Oct. 4, the Exeter Chapter #222 of the Order
of the Eastern Star celebrated its 70th birthday. Over 100 members and
friends attended a celebration banquet that included musical entertain-
ment by the Seaforth Harmony Kings. Greetings were given by the
Worthy Grand Matron, Jeanie Lee of Exeter and Worthy Grand Patron,
Robert Atkinson ofWoodstock. One of the highlights of the day included
the surprise appointment of Don Easton of the Exeter Chapter as a
grand representative ofVermont in Ontario. Pictured at left cutting the

Radiothon aims
for $1 million
HURON — Fifteen Mid -Western
Hospital Foundations are collec-
tively aiming to raise $1 million
for local health care Oct. 18.
The foundations which repre-
sent Huron, Bruce, Grey, Perth
a n d
Wellington
counties will
be partici-
pating in
the 7th Annual CKNX Health
Care Heroes Radiothon.
In 2007, 14 foundations raised
over $930,000 for local hospital
projects. With the continued sup-
port of their health care heroes,
the foundations are optimistic
they will reach the $1 million tar-
get.

Foundation is new to the
Radiothon this year and is rais-
ing funds to buy a Bone Mineral
Density Scanner.

RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS
South Huron Community Services
Advisory Committee
The South Huron Community Advisor Committee is
being created to provide Council and staff both guid-
ance and recommendations on matters relating to the
provision and promotion of community services in
South Huron, including, but not restricted to:
• Recreation and Leisure Programs
• Community Development
• Community Culture & Heritage Activities
• Volunteerism
The Committee will actively assist the Council by
fostering and promoting:
• A positive community image
• An enhanced menu of community programs
and services
• An appropriate mix of urban and rural services
• A healthy and active environment for
South Huron residents
The first major task for the Committee, for the next
6 months, is working with Consultants to develop the
Community Services Masters Plan and the Port Blake
Business Plan.
Applications are being accepted for five (5) community
representatives from the general public representing
all area of the Municipality including Seniors, Youth,
Organized Sports Associations, Cultural Groups and
Volunteers.
A copy of the CSAC Terms of Reference is available at
the Municipal Office or the municipal website.
Applications will be accepted in writing until noon,
October 31, 2008. Applicants should include their
reasons for applying, that they have read and under-
stand the terms of reference for the Committee and
are prepared to commit to regular attendance and
participation at meetings to complete a Community
Services Master Plan.
