On Oct. 2, at approximately noon, Huron OPP officers were conducting traffic enforcement on North Line in Huron East in a 60 km/h zone. A transport truck entered the area travelling at 111 km/h and was stopped by offi- cers in Winthrop. As a result of the investigation, the dri- ver had his licence suspended for seven days and the tractor portion of the unit was impounded for seven days. Due to the fact that the trailer was carrying perish- able goods, it was removed from the area with another tractor. The driver will be in Goderich Court on Nov. 6. Speeding complaint LUCAN BIDDULPH — A 21 -year-old North Middlesex man and a 31 -year-old Lucan Biddulph man have been charged with speeding after Middlesex OPP received a complaint of two vehicles racing on Elginfield Road. Both vehicles were found speeding 120 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Rash of break-ins to seasonal cottages GRAND BEND — Lambton OPP are investigating as many as four break-ins to seasonal cottages in the Grand Bend area. Eyewitness accounts allege that they heard banging from the cottages in question at around 1:30 a.m. on the morning of Oct. 6 and that a male party was seen lurk- ing in the area of a nearby cottage. An SUV playing loud music was seen by another neigh- bour driving slowly through the area during the same time period. There are no descriptors of the male or the vehicle. • Hill Street — Culprits forced and broke glass in an exterior door that leads to the cottage. Entry was not gained as the door was secured for the winter from the inside. • Beach Lane — Entry was gained by forcing a window air conditioner. Once inside, closets and cabinets were rummaged through. It is not known at this time if any- thing was taken. • Beach lane — Entry was gained by forcing a side door. Once inside, thieves rummaged through closets and cupboards. It is not known if anything is missing • Dietrich Crescent —: Entry was gained by forcing a side door. Once inside, it is believed that thieves stole a television set and other miscellaneous items. The investigation is continuing Mischief in Lucan LUCAN BIDDULPH — Middlesex OPP are investigating two incidents of mischief in Lucan. On Oct. 6 it was report- ed that culprits set a patio chair cushion on fire on Beech Street. On Oct. 5 on Lucan's Main Street, a GMC pick- up parked at the commu- nity centre had its win- dow cracked and was keyed. RIDE update LUCAN BIDDULPH — A RIDE program on Lucan's Main Street Oct. 4 saw 356 vehicles checked, with two seatbelt violations discovered. Main Street theft LUCAN BIDDULPH — Middlesex OPP are reminding citizens to not leave valuables in their vehicles after a report of a purse, money and credit cards being stolen from the truck of a locked vehicle on Lucan's Main Street Oct. 6. The HealthKick project is establishing itself in a new office at the newly con- structed Municipality of Huron East Healthcare Facility in Seaforth that will see co -location of the Huron community Family Health Team and the newly launched Gateway Rural Health Research Institute. Among the many pro- grams that will be operat- ed through HealthKick, this new facility is the loca- tion for the health focused training programs. The training programs are delivered by Georgian College with local instruc- tors and tuitions will be supported through the HealthKick project. Dumont said he started playing at 7:45 a.m and finished at 4 p.m. It is the second year for the event and Dumont thanks the Dow family for the use of the course. (photo/Pat Bolen) MUNICIPALITY OF Notice Public Meeting to discuss the future of Exeter Dam Thursday, October 23 - 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. South Huron Recreation Centre, Exeter The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority and Municipality of South Huron invite interested members of the public to attend a public consultation meeting about whether to complete an Environmental Assessment of Exeter Dam in MacNaughton Park. An Environmental Assessment would review the current state of the dam and reservoir and would investigate options for the future of the dam. These options could range from continuing to maintain the dam to starting a process to decommission the dam.
